from today's NY Times:
A week ago, Shaquille O'Neal said, "I'm not worried about the Sacramento Queens." Then he essentially called them chokers for failing to put away the Lakers when they had the chance.

Gee, Shaq is sooooooooo intelligent. He changed "Sacramento Kings" into "Sacramento Queens." I bet NO ONE'S thought of that before!

It may just be me, but I don't normally associate straight guys with using the term "queens." Granted, it's the play on words that Shaq is making, but normally straight people say fags and really don't use "queens" that often. To me it's sort of an insider's derogatory term.

Makes you wonder why the bothered calling the WNBA team the Monarchs. Or it doesn't, depending on how cynical you are.
