Huh, you ask? The 7-7 Bol will be playing in the CHL for the Indianapolis Ice, according to today's NY Times. Attendance must be WAY down.

Actually, Ice attendance is pretty good. The management is big on keeping the entertainment factor high at the games.

They even admit that this is more for publicity than anything else. He has never played hockey before. They are still trying to find equipment that will fit.

Will he really take the ice? Can he skate? The chances for injury seem very high to me. Though I do want to see the stick they rig up for him.

I read that he's never been on skates before. It's one thing to provide entertainment. This is a freak show, pure and simple.

I realize that Manute Bol needs money and sends what he gets for these stunts (remember when he fought on Fox Celebrity thing...) back to Sudan, but there has to be a better way for him to raise funds.

Well, he suited up but fortunately saw no ice time. He donated whatever money he made from this stunt to his charity in Sudan. It is good works, but there must be a better way.

What money was actually made? I can't believe they sold that many tickets in the last couple of days just to see him. What did the team pay him? Did they take up a collection among the fans at the arena? He should be commended for wanting to send money to help his homeland, but not for turning himself into a circus freak show-type act.

The figure I've heard, with corporate sponsors included, is $12,500 for the night. I would think that some do-gooder would give that sort of money if Bol asked, without turning himself into a freak show.
