ESPN's David Aldridge is reporting that a trade between the Nets and Trailblazers may be in the works. Kenyon Martin is apparently very unhappy with his contract renegotiation (God I hate that word!) and is seeking a trade. The deal would send Martin and Dikembe Mutombo to Portland for Rasheed Wallace and Ruben Patterson. Mutombo's ridiculously inflated salary seems to be the major stumbling block in finalizing the deal.

Martin has reportedly been seeking a 6 year deal worth $87 million, but the Nets are offering only $66 million.

sounds like a good deal shipping out 2 problems for 2 bigger problems. be interesting to see how it works out. im not a big fan of Martin or Wallace, both very talented but both headcases and seem to fade big time when the game is on the line

Since Portland is not a preferred destination for most players and this trade does not make any sense, I'm wondering if NJ management is chatting with the Blazers just to help KMart see the "bigger" picture ... any maybe count his blessings.

"Only" $66 million. Sheesh.

Im sure the guy to benefit most from that deal would be Wallace. Hed be closer to Philly and hed be on a championship team for a change. Enjoy the Northwest, KMart!
