Full Version: MLB spend $1 million + in lobbying

DCBucky
.... but the players union is well behind that. Both have beefed up their efforts in D.C. since contraction was brought up.

Read more here in Roll Call.

MLB has Lucy Calautti leading the team (she's Mrs. Kent Conrad) -- she runs the MLB office here in town out of a big Cleveland-based law firm, Baker & Hostetler.

The union has a whole slate of lobby and law firms -- Swidler, Berlin (led by Thurgood Marshall, Jr.) ... Patton Boggs ... The Harbor Group (to name a few)

Some of the numbers mentioned in the article ($20,000 .... $10,000 ...) may seem small, but keep in mind that those were only for direct lobbying activities. Payment for other work they did (general consulting, advise ...) does not have to be reported as such.

This is what the two sides are doing instead of negotiating and working together to solve the sport's problems. They are truly despicable.
