This is getting very interesting, I see 5 teams competing for the last 2 spots, the top 6 I'm already considered locked up. But for 7 and 8, it is between Utah, Phoenix, Houston, Golden State and Seattle. What is interesting is Seattle is 4 back of Phoenix right now with 2 games left against each other head to head, if the Sonics make up 3 games by the end of the season it could be like a 1 game playoff series with Phoenix on the last game of the regular season.

I keep thinking the Sonics are out of it, but Phoenix and Houston are still helping the Sonics out, The Sonics could possibly be only 2 out in the loss column tonight with a victory over the Suns. And still have remaining games with Houston and Phoenix. The Warriors are tied with the Sonics, and Utah has passed up the Lakers.

10 games remaining and the Sonics are still in it and have the tie-breaker with Phoenix and Houston, with one game remaining against each team.
Phoenix 38-35
Houston 38-35
Seattle 35-37

Yeah, baby, the Rockets lose another one!
I think the Sonics need to go 3-1 in their next four games in order to stay in the hunt. They absolutely must beat the Clippers and the Bulls and try to steal one against the T-Wolves or Utah.

I think they'll need to go 4-0, it just gets tougher after that. Sonics' April schedule.

Phenomonal game for the Lakers tonight as they take the season series from Dallas, 3-1. LA is "turning it on," a la the f**kin' Yankees. And right in time for the playoffs. This should delight Lakersdabomb.
And it sure as hell surprises me, as I was convinced my boys were toast some two months ago. This team played like they had no place in the playoffs at that time. But lately they've played like they actually recognize one another [slap forehead].
It's been a long time since last May. G-D-it! I want a four-peat!

Ray Allen for threeee points, 3 points ALLEN! The Sonics trash the Wolves!
Phoenix 41-36
Houston 40-39
Seattle 39-39
The Sonics are still alive but the only possible thing I see happening is for them to go 3-0 and Phoenix to go 1-2 in the next 3 games, thus creating a one game playoff the last game of the season.

Any other Mavs fans out there feeling that sickening feeling in the pit of your stomach? You know, the one that says it's all slipping away and that this whole season has just been fool's gold?
God, watching them tonight was like torture. You'd think they could summon a little more urgency, considering what's on the line. Or, not.

Well, it looks like the Lakers have a very good shot of moving into the 5th seed and drawing Portland in the 1st round unless Phil Jackson intentionally tries to stall at the 6th seed just to get the Mavs. And yes Mikey - it's all slipping away. However, it's a win win for us. Either we win by winning or we win by getting swept out of the 1st round and showing Cuban and the coaches that we don't need anymore finesse shooters or 7'6", 195# boyz under the basket that fall if the wind suddenly changes direction.
When it's all said and done, the Spurs will be the NBA champs; very befitting for the departure of the classiest guy in the history of the NBA - The Admiral.

Yowza! Only 3 or 4 games left. LA behind Portland by 1/2 game for the 4 spot.
It is truly amazing that the Lakers are this close to actually earning first-round home court advantage after their HORRIBLE performance in the first half of the season.

It is amazing AU. But the fact is the Lakers won't really need home court against anybody except maybe the Spurs (Lakers dominance over Spurs in playoffs last 2 years not withstanding!) or Kings-at least not the way they are playing now! But I'd like to see them dethroned. Please somebody beat them! (No offense Lakersdabomb! wink )

No offense taken George! I agrre w/ all you said until "the please somebody dethrone them" I also agree the Spurs could be a problem, but in the later rounds I think the LAKERS will be more focused! GO LAKERS 4-IN-A-ROW!!! AI YI YII

Hey Ron, how about the drama last night buddy with the Blazers losing to the lowly Clippers last night and drawing the Mavs in the 1st round? KG and Wally get Shaq and Kobe. Dallas gets to play the JailBlazers if they can stay out of trouble that long and not kill each other.

Theo, I am very pleased that the Mavs drew the Jailblazers, rather than the Lakers!! If the real Trailblazers show up, it would be an rather interesting series!! Most people are saying right now that the most entertaining series with be the T-Wolves/Lakers matchup, but I think the Suns will give the Spurs all that they can handle. This is also the first time in the NBA playoffs, where in the first round, it is a best of seven format, and not the best of five. The Mavs have home advantage in the second round, if they can get past the first. The Spurs with a gimpy Tim Duncan, have to get past a very underrated, athletic, Phoenix Suns team!! Go Mavs!!
