Hey guys,
I was wondering if anyone has seen the New Commercial that goes with the "1000 Reasons to Love this Game" Ad Campaign? It has the 5 guys from "Queer Eye from the Straight Guy" each telling why they love the NBA. The commercial is ok, but I was wondering what you all thought about the NBA going after 5 openly gay guys to promote the League.
Do you think they are actually trying to attract a gay audience or just taking advantage of a pop culture phenomenom?
I was actaully pretty surprised to see the commercial, becuase I have never really seen a Professional Sports League use "gay icons" (losely used) to promote their product. I live in Florida and I have never even heard of one of the local NBA Teams (outside of any WNBA team) have a gay night or something similar. I know that some Major League Baseball Teams like the Marlins, Cubs and Braves have had alternative lifestyle nights. I really hope this is not some typical ad ploy, but a genuine effort (even if it is subliminal) to include everyone in society to enjoy the NBA.
Anyway Just wondering what any of you all thought.
Thanks,
MF
