Gary Payton, traded from the Los Angeles Lakers to the Boston Celtics last month, was arrested August 28th on suspicion of driving under the influence after trying to back his car down an onramp of the heavily-traveled 405 freeway. He failed an alcohol sobriety test. He told the police that he backed down the onramp in order to avoid heavy freeway traffic. (Love that.)
This isn't the first time Payton has been in trouble with the law: last year he was charged with two counts of common assault & one of assault causing bodily harm following a fight outside club in Toronto. That trial is pending.
