So says ESPN.com...

QUOTE
Nets coach Byron Scott, one year removed from taking New Jersey to a second consecutive NBA Finals appearance, has been fired, league sources have told ESPN.com's Marc Stein.

The Nets are expected to announce the move at a 2 p.m. ET news conference, and assistant coach Lawrence Frank is expected to be named interim coach, the sources have told Stein.

New Jersey is scheduled to practice as usual at 1 p.m. ET today and Frank is expected to coach the session.

The Nets, an unspectacular 22-20 record with the All-Star break approaching, lead the 22-24 Celtics by two games in the Atlantic Division but have only the fifth-best record in the Eastern Conference.

The Nets have been struggling, but Scott did not deserve to be fired. Two straight Eastern Conference titles after something like two playoff series wins in the previous 20 years. Jason Kidd has run so many coaches out of town during his career, the little prima donna. Maybe he'll get his wife the job. I am so glad he didn't sign with the Spurs.

Did Scott sign Mourning? Did he trade Mutombo? I think Scott did pretty well considering the morbidly inept management the Nets have.

I feel bad, but I also think it was needed for the team. Sometimes players don't respond to the coach after awhile.....and that is what happened. I think of him as the younger Larry Brown. A GREAT "growing" coach.

He is a great coach and he will have a great career.

And Byron...if you are reading this....you can come to my home and I will comfort you for free! tongue.gif

Maybe the Sixers will hire him. Right now they are falling apart, and it's not all due to injuries.
