76ers hire Jim O'Brien as head coach: First I heard of it was during the Phillies telecast, when Phil Martelli broke the news. wink The St. Joe's Hawks were honored before the game and since O'Brien played his college ball there, Martelli perhaps had some inside info.

Boy the quickness of the announcement kind of took be by surprise. I was not expecting a move till the end of the playoffs. The only question is will A.I. still be here in September.

The coaching musical chairs continues.
Doc Rivers, fired by Orlando this season, becomes the head coach for the Boston Celtics.

And still Atlanta's Terry Stotts remains the longest tenured coach in the Eastern Conference (just over a season and a half!) despite his career record of 52 wins and 85 losses. If the NBA would consider contraction, the Atlanta franchise seems as good a place as any to start!
Anyway I wish Doc luck in Boston. As long as Danny Ainge is there, Rivers will need it.

Well not anymore! Stotts has been relieved of his duties. Now every Eastern conference coach has 1 season or less head coaching experience with his current team.

Good for them for firing Stotts. It's
obviously his fault that no one bought tickets and there was lousy talent and the team's moves were designed to maximize salary cap space.

Another one bites the dust.
The Hornets fired Tim Floyd. Many thought Floyd was undeserving of another head coaching job after his tenure in Chicago, but his newest failure will surely keep him from landing another NBA gig. The Bulls had no talent when he was there, but the Hornets actually had some players and looked like a contender in the East early on. But they really faded down the second half.

The longest tenured Eastern Conference coach is the Washington Wizards' Eddie Jordan.

Uneasy lies the head that wears that crown! And in the Western Conference, Jerry Sloan just keeps on going.

Apparently the Raptors are putting out a call to Dr. J for a front office job.

Considering the revelation of the Dr. J sex tape, would you say the Raptors are making a
booty call?

Is there any talk of Dr. J returning to the fold of the 'Sixers' front-office? That would make more sense than heading to the Raptors.

No talk at all. Whenever he's been available the Sixers didn't have an opening. I don't know if they've ever seriously considered trying to get him back.
