Tim Duncan was officially announced as the NBA's MVP. Here is the final vote tally with first place votes in parenthesis:
Points
Tim Duncan Spurs 954 (57)
Jason Kidd Nets 897 (45)
Shaquille O'Neal Lakers 696 (15)
Tracy McGrady Magic 390 (7)
Kobe Bryant Lakers 98 (1)
Gary Payton Sonics 54 (1)
Chris Webber Kings 37
Dirk Nowitzki Mavs 31
Allen Iverson 76ers 29
Ben Wallace Pistons 24
Paul Pierce Celtics 22
Kevin Garnett T-Wolves 17
Michael Jordan Wizards 16
Steve Nash Mavs 5
Jerry Stackhouse Pistons 3
Elton Brand Clippers 1
Mike Bibby Kings 1
Predrag Stojakovic Kings 1
Okay I know there is a legitimate arguement for Duncan, Kidd or Shaq. But who are the 7 numbskulls who actually think McGrady is more deserving than those three? And maybe even worse, who is the one voter who chose Kobe? Don't get me wrong, McGrady and Bryant are both great players, but no way were they the MVP this season.

George, have you seen The Orlando Magic lately? Without Tracy McGrady, the Bulls are no longer the worse team in the league. What was he like 4th in scoring this year despite back problems? Don't get me wrong, I think Duncan is a great player as are Kidd and Shaq, but they have talent around them. They don't have to guard the opposing team's best player AND do the bulk of the scoring with NO ONE else to defer to on an off night. Kidd shot less than 40% from the field, that's just not going to get the job done. Without Shaq the Lakers are still heading to the playoffs. Hell, they probably still would've swept the Blazers this year Duncan and McGrady are 1 and 2 in my book with Iverson being 3.

I would think Payton wouldv'e been higher! This coming from a LAKERS fan! I think Duncan is a fine choice, as well as Shaq, McGrady, Kobe, but Iverson said he was the best, he is the ansewer so who is to argue? LOL Seriously I think Chris Webber deserves more respect! That all being said and done, I believe winning the Championships is more important, and while its a great honor to be named MVP, I think any of the Super Stars who have won it, (Maybe Sir Charles, and Iverson are the only) would gladly trade it in for a Championship ring! Does anybody know how many MVP's have never won a Championship?

I can't argue with the choice of Tim Duncan; however, I am disappointed that it did not go to Jason Kidd. The Spurs were the #1 seed last year, this year they were #2. The Nets were lottery picks last year and this year they were the #1 seed. The difference: Jason Kidd. To me that is deserving of the MVP award.
I guess now the Lakers are just going to have to finish spanking the Spurs and send TD back home with his trophy to sulk over another summer.
