I was locked in the house all weekend <heavy sigh> but couldn't stop watching the NCAA womens softball world series! Did anyone else get caught in the trance??

In related news I have developed an alarming crush on Arizona pitcher Jenny Finch. This page has a video clip of this dominant pitcher helping her cause by hitting a home run in the semi-final.

I watched most of the Series as well this weekend. I tune in every year. Always some great play.

It is a shame that Zona had to go 11 innings in the semis. It definitely took steam from Finch's arm for the championship. Having said that, Cal played the best softball the whole post-season, so they were deserving.

Finch could very possibly become the next star for USA Softball. She is truly phenomenal. She had 19 strikeouts against Oklahoma earlier in the season. (Softball is a seven inning game, so there are only 21 outs to record. Oklahoma was a top 10 team. Yikes!) She had a 60 game winning streak between the 2001 and 2002 campaigns. She can outright dominate.

I had hoped she would go home with another trophy. She was one out away from being out of trouble yesterday, when the roof fell in. Too bad.

It would have been great to see Arizona pull out the win, but Cal played better.

And your right abot the roof suddenly falling in. That was a major rally on two outs and totally deflated the Arizona squad.

Looking forward to seeing Finch play for the US team when there will be other pitchers on staff to share the burden.
