What can I do to get more women jazzed up to attend the Gay Games in Chicago next year?!? I've only been once (New York -- it literally changed my life), but I live in Chicago and want to see this city packed with women!!
I know that a couple of the sports are filling up fast. I've been volunteering for the Games, but mostly I just want to see more than the traditional 30% women (which still amounts to over 3,500) attending next year ...
If you have any questions, I'll be happy to answer them, or find the answer for you!
C'mon out and play (or watch)!

I am SO there! I'm entered in the sprint (short-course) triathlon, which is unfortunately the morning after the Opening Ceremonies. I'll be there with my best friend, who's from Denver. Our long-suffering wives will be cheering us on.
Volunteer for the triathlon!
Can't wait.
Edited to add: I have a lot of friends in the Lakeside Pride band - I'm gonna try to get them to come on out and cheer us on, too.

SoftballStud is right, you'll see all skill levels at the Games, that's part of what makes them so great! When I first heard about the Games, I also thought I had to try out or somehow qualify to be able to participate, not true!
If you have any specific questions, feel free to post them here or email me ... CaptainSassy@gmail.com.

Okay, what I want to know is, where are all the female martial artists? Of the 6 gay martial artists I know here in Vanc., 3 are women. That's half. There was also a solid female contingent at the Sydney GG's. So where the heck are you all? If any read this, please come join us over in "other sports" under "any other martial artists out there?"
chuck.

I was checking out the Gay Games site, I did not realize they had secured Orbitz as a Silver sponsor. This is great! I had heard that this was in the works, as well as a few others that are even bigger - hope the others work out too.

Hey, Chuckvanc, I just met a woman the other night who had just signed up for martial arts ... I think the ball is definitely rolling!!
For all you team sports people, did you know that you can buy a block of five or more spots at a significant savings? You don't even have to know who will be taking those spots when you do it!
I did this a few days ago for my softball team ... it's a great option for when you KNOW you'll be bringing a team but you're just not sure who will be on that team yet! This way you'll be sure to have a spot for your team in case the sport gets filled up and closed for further registrations ...
Happy sporting!
