The Women's World Cup, scheduled from Sept. 23 to Oct. 11, will no longer take place in China, due to SARS worries.
The U.S., Australia, Sweden and Brazil are each thinking about bidding as the substitute host -- with the U.S. seen as having the inside track.
I fear that such a short time frame for publicity, ticket sales, etc. will mean the event will not be as popular as it was 4 years ago.
