I have a request -- no, make that a demand.
If you've posted on this board at least somewhat regularly in the past, and are still reading but no longer posting for whatever reason, please post to this thread to let us know that you're still around. I am sick and tired of people disappearing from this forum for long periods of time and wondering where they've gone. You don't have to explain yourself if you don't want. I don't really care. I just want to know that you're still alive.
Thank you.

Hi, I am here, I have just been very busy and very happy with my new job. We are also trying to have a baby, so I've been busy with *other things*.
But, I do read the posts everyday and especially follow the American Idol thread (it's the best!).

This is a cool thread. I had wondered what had happened to Married Lady. Thought she ran off with Joey Harrington!

Seph has completely disappeared. He's been a member of our Outsports Fantasy Baseball League since the beginning, but this year no one has been able to reach him at any e-mail address or by posting on the Discussion Board!

Still alive and lurking.
Just got back from Detroit -- what a mess. Reminds me of the West Side of Chicago after a nuclear bomb blast and Russian invasion.
Cheers.

Chi-towner, Did you roll thru my old home town of Gary on your way back from Motown? Think East Side of Chicago after a chemical attack and months of Serbo-Croatian street fighting. Long Live the Great Society!

Took an airplane. I've passed by Gary, but never through the city. A drive past always brought the words "post-apocalyptic" to mind. I pictured the mayor as Tina Turner a la "Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome".
Detroit, with Coleman Young's incinerator dominating the skyline, reminded me of a chain smoking giant lying in his pigsty of a room, staring up at the ceiling and day-dreaming of better things.

Chi-towner, I think you and I could spend some very enjoyable hours lingering over a tray of White Castles in Whiting or Hammond. The fumes from the refineries make for a much better burger!
Yes, the Colemanization of Detroit was a sorry thing. I've many friends there and, like at Du Maurier's "Manderly," "nature had come back into her own" there at least as early as the mid-80s, when we used to see wild pheasants scurrying around what used to be downtown Motown.
Next time you fly, consider Gary! Hooter's flies out of there with several non-stops to exciting places like Myrtle Beach and, if heavy metal- impaired memory serves me right, Detroit City Airport! Save time and money - if not your life and baggage!

Don't know if anyone missed me since I've never been a very prolific poster, but I'm still lurking a little bit almost every day. (Mainly lurking the Hot Jock threads.

)
I cut back on posting and lurking late last year because I needed to get more work done during the day. Then I started posting a bit on a Kansas City forum around the time of the election. That board is mainly a joking-around forum started by people who listen to local sports talk radio. But they also have forums for politics and religion, etc., and being the only gay person that posts there, I often throw a kink into their discussions. We had some raucous discussions about the election and same-sex marriage, and while they often joke around about me being "the gay one" on the boards, they give me a lot of respect, and I get a lot of private messages from people there urging me to stick around and to "keep preaching" about marriage equality and civil rights.
So it's been an interesting hanging out there and seeing the straight point of view on different topics, while not letting them forget that gay folks are all around and are human too. Still, I think my work there is almost done. I still check out Outsports first every day, and plan to start posting more often again.
Meanwhile, keep posting those Hot Jocks, and Go Royals!

I think Blue must be in the witness protection program. Either that, or he fried his brain coming up with all of those off-the-wall questions. Have we heard from Ung lately? I know a couple of Tigers that are hibernating until Football season.

I have been thru Gary- its pretty sad - and I know, I know, Cleveland isn't a great city -- but Gary makes us look GOOD by comparison. Of course I only saw what I could see from the freeway - maybe there are some nicer parts of town. I hate to see ANY cities decay - I always hope they can make a comeback for developers - SAD! frown

There is actually one Outsporter I am worried about - IT Jock. This was his last posting on 1/31/05:
QUOTE
I will be signing off for about 6 weeks due to some medical problems - thanks to everyone who wrote asking why I wasn't writing so much this month.
Its something serious - related to an infection I caught (possibly while I was diving), but not immediately life threatening; so I have to take some time off from my cruise plans and head back to the US for some long term care.
I am going to be in the hospital most of the time, and they have said no to my Laptop, Cellphone, and Axim. hopefully I should be back online again in about 6 weeks.
I know it's only been about 6 1/2 weeks since he last posted, but I hope he is okay. Call me a worrier, but I hope we hear from him soon.

I think anyone who posts on this board who wants to know about any other poster should feel free to ask where someone is. Someone who might be an "illegitmate" poster in one person's opinion is a "legitimate" poster in someone else's opinion.

I haven't posted this before, but it's time, because it keeps coming up.
I probably drove the infamous Bluebird away by e-mailing him and telling him to quit e-mailing me, M1 (the other moderator) and Jim and Cyd to complain that people were being mean to him because they mocked him. I said that unless they were being abusive by calling him names and/or using threatening language, to stop hitting the moderator alert button and that we had already told him this. And I also told him that starting 5 threads a day, most of which got 1 or 2 responses (mostly mocking him) wasn't cool, that unless he was sure it was going to get at least a page of comments, to lay off, that threads called 10 Best Ways to Order Pizza probably weren't needed. Poof, gone, never posted after that.

After staying away from the board for a few weeks, I suppose it is time to come back. I have been busy with work and travel, but I was also feeling a bit melancholy and bored with the board.
Anyway, looks like I missed quite a bit with the NCAAs, the Schivo case etc. But the most puzzling thing to me is this new persona (imposter?) of dear Phillyfan. What happened to the vitriol I know and love? Has someone sent him mind altering drugs? Inquiring minds want to know.

He's been kidnapped...unless he's role-playing to make a point about...
something...Forget that, though -- did you know we may have played softball against the infamous gay prostitute-turned-"reporter" Jeff Gannon?

PhillyFan is fine, but I think he is having serious problems with his computer or keyboard. He is typing his usual rantings and ravings, but for some reason it is being converted to "Mary Sunshine" prose when he hits the "add reply" button. Maybe we should take up a collection and get him a new computer! wink
