Looks like the Cincinanti Reds will be picking up right where they left off. First, former Reds infielder Pokey Reese sounds off to the media about the special treatment afforded Ken Griffey Jr., saying clubhouse spirit and discipline declined when the Reds traded for Griffey.

Now ESPN is reporting Ken Griffey Sr. has quit the Reds coaching staff. He will remain witht the team as a consultant.

Wanna bet Junior will be somewhere else before the season is over?

Why do I get the feeling that if it weren't for Junior, Griffey Sr. would NEVER get a job of any kind with baseball?
Jim Allen
Um, the Reds new ballpark, due to open in 2003, looks great in the drawings.

They'll probably draw 2 million fans just because everyone wants to see the new park, but will there be a watchable team once the novelty wears off?

Junior should have stayed in Seattle. The grass is NOT always greener on the other side, though the paycheck might increase.

Yes Junior should have stayed in Seattle. But I doubt many Mariners, or even Mariner fans, want him back!

Not just Pokey Reese speaking out...

[quote]Another former Red -- Dmitri Young -- backed up Reese's sentiment.

"Pokey was absolutely right," Young, now with the Detroit Tigers, told Booth Newspapers. "I've said some things that you could read between the lines, but Pokey was dead on."

Young played four seasons in Cincinnati, including the last two with Griffey.

"Once Junior got there, the team broke off into cliques," he told Booth Newspapers. "Then you had guys that basically gave up.

"(Griffey's) got his accomplishments. But he throws them back in your face. He'd sit there and say, "How many home runs do you have? How much money do you make?'"
