I searched for an existing thread for the Padres but no luck. They deserve one too, part of the hotly contested NL West.

They just picked up SS Rich Aurilia from the Mariners. ESPN Link - Might expire soon

Rich's career seems to be fading fast. While I think he's great at SS he has never regained his hitting power. But he's still as gorgeous as ever! We miss him here in SF. frown

Well, at Petco Park he's not going to be hitting homers...maybe lots of doubles if the Padres are lucky.

It's not likely that he'll get many of those either since the Padres have already said that rookie Khalil Greene will remain their starting SS (which is a no-brainer if you ask me) and Aurilia will mainly be used as "insurance" in the event of injury, to strengthen their bench (PH primarily) and to give Greene, Loretta or Burroughs an occasional day off down the stretch....this is a good acquisition for San Diego, though, especially if they remain in contention for the NL West crown, which I fully expect them to as long as their young, impressive starters stay healthy.

I'm annoyed, I was hoping to see that hot bear playing against the Sox right now....but now he's with the Padres! LOL

What's up with Klesko? Is he still with the Padres? I know he was on the DL at one point, haven't heard much out of him.
