Full Version: Are The Moderators Biased?
Outsports Discussion Board > Outsports > About the Board
Tarkus
In the Non-Sports Related section is a thread about the Bush/Enron scandal. In it, Outsports' moderators have been accused of bias against Republican posters. It's said that we de-lurk to chatise Republicans more than Democrats.

I think that's absurd for a number of reasons. Here's the place to state your case.

I think it's absurd as well. Any problems have occurred when posters go over the line into incivility; I don't see any censorship of a particular ideology from the moderators.

I throw my two cents in: chink, chink.

I feel like there is free rein to say whatever you damn well please, including to make personal that which is not. this is good. I leave it up to each of us to be clear, precise, and aware of the needs to do so. In other words; taking time to read your post before you post it as if you were reading it the first time, does wonders. I think too often we get into the hurry to say what we want and have it be heard, that we forget to be sensitive to those who will be recieving it.

are the moderators biased? not to my knowledge.

Im a Repub. & I think the moderators are fair - I've seen both Bushes criticized severely as well as Both Clintons & Gore - so I think that every one get trashed equally. Besides we conservatives have Ump 25 AND Bo Sox Rudy on our SIDE!!! Edited for spelling - again !

Moderators are fair to the liberals.

What's important is that the board is moderated fairly. I think it is and anyone who's been around it for a while probably thinks so as well...

What's irritating to me is perpetuating this simple duality that's screwed up American politics for a long time. Reducing people to being either liberal or conservative is ludicrous and small-minded, and I hate to see it continue...of course, I'm sure it will, but a guy can hope..

Seems ridiculous that we need moderators to keep some sense of civility. When I first found Outsports, I was so excited because I found a place where other gays could actually talk about sports. And while its interesting to discuss other topics to learn more about one another, it can get kind of distressing to see that the Non Sports related threads outnumber the Sports related ones and they get way more posts. But if you can't discuss these topics without attacking other posters, then don't enter the discussion. It seems many people will "say" things in cyberspace that they would never have the nerve to say to someone's face. That seems to be where the trouble starts. I for one am glad to see the moderators step in and stop the madness from time to time! Thanks guys!

Damn Communists.

Back in October, there was an overzealous reaction to some language that no one except the moderator took personally, and a humble apology was made.

This is what we care about:

"Libertoonians are all hypocrites!"
No problem

"You are a hypocrite!"
Direct personal comment, takes the thread off topic, is selfish. Don't do this, please, and we'll be fine.

Thank you

To say that the moderators are biased against Republicans is just a typical tactic of the ultra-right wingers. I have found that the ultra-right wingers are like most bullies. They act all tough right up until the moment when their targets FIGHT BACK. Then they get all whiny and say that someone is biased against them. One day it's the media, and the next it's the Outsports moderators. Yawn.

"typical tactic of ultra-right wingers"?

Gee, I know I'm conservative, for the most part, but I didn't know I was an ultra-right winger. But I voted for Clinton?! Oh no! They might kick me out of the Ultra-Right Winger Club!

The Vast Right Wing Conspiracy needs people on the inside. Your dangerously close to blowing your cover.

Since this thread has, "shockingly", broken down into an attack on Republicans and Democrats and gotten off topic, I'm locking it.

And, since I'm a Republican, I guess that blows the theory.
