We're sorry but we have been swamped covering the Gay Games and trying to get back in the flow. I have not seen this ad, but we will track it down and end it.

Maybe we should all send outsports $10? This website is free, after all, and as a guy who has had a website, I know the cost. The ISP fee may be cheap, but the day-to-day upkeep is a nightmare.
Disclaimer: I am not, nor have I ever been, affiliated with outsports, nor am I paid in anyway to speak for outsports.
Just a thought.
They had the opportunity to ask for donations to keep the board running before plastering the site with ads and declined to do so.
The "Make A Donation" link has been on the home page for years.

Since I switched my browser over to Firefox, I haven't had any problems with pop-ups..
Mozilla Firefox Thanks for the link! I downloaded this as my Outsports browser. It works great and doesn't affect my system at all. In fact if you don't install the flash plug-ins, you don't even see the flash ads let alone the agressive pop-ups. Woot!

It's weird though...cuz I seriously haven't had any problem with this ad since a couple months ago when it was first a problem.
I'm running Internet Explorer by the way.

The problem is NOT fixed. It's worse, at least for me. Now, not only does it pop up all the time if I am on the site, it's on my computer now all the time and keeps popping up. Is this some sort of virus? Not a big draw to keep one coming back to the site!

It's very strange how some people are having terrible problems yet others aren't. Personally, I can't recall EVER seeing this Amex ad. I get the occasional popup, from this site and others, despite using Mozilla Firefox. But compared to the old days when popups really started gaining hold and the popup blockers were just being developed, it's nothing. And the ones I do get are easily closed.
Popup blockers, anti-virus/adware/spyware programs -- make sure you got 'em, make sure you use 'em.

I don't see the ad, but I do occasionally get the buzzing noize. Not all the time, but here and there.

We've killed the insect, so that's shouldn't be cropping up.
As for AMEX, I've never seen it and can't find a record of it in our ad service database -- I will keep checking.

Hi:
I can't seem to find this ad. It's not listed in any of our ad services and I've never seen it. But I know it exists based on complaints.
The next person who sees it needs to right click on the ad and copy the "properties" or click on the ad and copy the URL and send it to us. It's possible it's a rogue program that is generating income for someone else.
We do not take this lightly but it's hard to kill something I can't find. Also, let me know what browser you ares using when you see it.
Thanks!

Jim, the AMEX ad pops up about every ten seconds on the Pro Basketball thread, but only when you're posting. But I've never seen it on the Pro Football or Baseball threads at all, even when posting, or, on any other thread. Of the threads that I routinely visit, only Pro Basketball receives the AMEX popup. But I'm dumb, so I didn't know the ads actually paid for maintenance of the OUTSPORTS site until I read wierdblackdog's post. So, now that I know this, I'm willing to put up with it and won't complain anymore. By the way, I use Windows Explorer.

I have not seen the Amex pop-up, nor heard the mosquito, in my last few visits, so I'm assuming the admins have finished eradicating them. On behalf of all Outsporters...
THANK YOU!
