Hi:
We have added a separate forum for Politics & Religion.
It may seem odd on a sports board, but we get a lot of posts on these topics and they were threatening to overwhelm the ``Non-Sports Related'' forum. We feel that people who want to avoid P&R can simply skip the forum and not have to wade through posts in other forums.
Would love feedback.
Thanks!

That's a fantastic idea Jim! I hate seeing political posts. A separate forum for those actually interested in politics is very appropriate.

An excellent idea.

Agreed: an excellent idea. There are times when I want to read--and participate--in political discourse here, other times, not so much. In the old system (when those threads were included in "Non-Sports Related Topics") I lacked the personal willpower to not read them. This way, with them separate but equal, it works out just fine. Thanks.

No matter what you do, where you go, you can't get away from politics and/or religion. So, might be helpful to get the views of others. P

Painter, I love politics, having covered them in Pennsylvania for 5 years. We created a separate forum because this is a sports board and the P/R stuff was dominating the non-sports related forum.

I've noticed that the
Today's Active Topics page
always displays "You are not logged in. Login or Register", but continuing on to any other page, the header says "Hello, redsoxbreath", so I'm actually still logged in. More gay grimlins in the server?

Weird, I do not have to log in at all. I use Internet Explorer and it saves my passwords. Any error messages you get send them on and we will fix them.

I use Internet Explorer and have the same situation as redsoxbreath. Every window indicates I'm logged in, except the "Today's Active Topics" window.
Update: After posting, the "Today's Active Topics" window indicated I was logged in, but when I went out of Outsports and back in, the window again indicated I was not logged in.
It's really not a problem, but just appears to be a minor glitch.

I always click on the "Discussion Board" link, not the active topics one, and get the same "you are not logged in" message--but when I click on a topic, it then says "Hello, Joe in Philly" without my actually having to log on again.
Also, now and then I click on a topic or try to reply and get a weird error message. I hit the Back button and try it again, and it then works fine.
So it does seem there are still a few minor glitches.

If the discussion board is the first place I visit here, I don't receive the "you are not logged in" message. If I chosse to read a column or view a photo prior to coming to the board, I am told I am not logged in. Like Joe in Philly, if I then click on a topic, I am acknowledged even if I haven't logged in. A minor ghost in the machine, I guess.

We are passing all these on to our admin. They have been great about fixes.
If you see any error messages, copy them down and send them to us. We are committed to making this work and know these glitches can be annoying.

Can you say Pandora's Box? I love intelligent discourse as much as the next guy and have even been known to "express" an opinion now and then, but it's scarey in there! Look at those guys go! <obligatory smiley>
Heads up play on creating the new Forum, Jim & Cyd. You must have heard the corn whispering "if you build it, they will post and post and post..."

The new posts are still here, they just don't appear on the Active Topics page. They are on the Baord Home page listed under each individual category.
