shore
Glad to wake up this morning to find this story on the top of the Outsports page.

http://www.outsports.com/difference/burns.htm

It's been such a big topic on the boards lately and I think Burns gives some wonderful insights. One thing I wonder about, he wrote:
"I couldn't spend 24 hours a day thinking about tennis anymore.", couldn't you have just cut back to like 23 hours? Or okay, you don't have to think/dream about it, so only 18 hours? Besides sex, whatelse is there is obsess over if not forehands, serves, drills, ball speed, Roger Federer, Monica Seles, Hingis' imminent return, Serena's fashion statements, Hall of Fame inductees, injuries, doping, equal prize money, models as ballgirls?

Really, thanks for sharing your story.

I agree with shore...well, maybe not about all that tennis stuff... wink Very good article.

A very nice article, full of hope and quite positive. I especially like the fact the women's softball coach asked Burns to speak to her team about his experience & that he was open to his team--and others--asking him questions.

A terrific piece. It seems the coming out experience benefitted Burns' life personally and professionally.

I loved this part:

QUOTE
I came out to three close childhood friends last month. A few minutes after I had told them, one asked, “Sean, just how comfortable are you with this sexuality thing?” After I told him I was getting pretty comfortable, he said, “Good. Because what I really want to know is when we can start giving you a hard time about it.   biggrin.gif
Is Sean Burns posting on the board? If not, get on here and liven up that tennis clique. wink They're almost as bad as the hockey clique. tongue.gif

(But nobody is as bad as the Gay Games clique. biggrin.gif )
