Not wanting to beat a dead horse, but did anyone else see Lemon's article in SI in which he still claims his Major League boyfriend is struggling with coming out? The article addresses the Piazza "I'm not gay" flap. He feels eventually an active gay player will come out and the other players will accept him.

At this point, I wish he would just shit or get off the pot already! Enough with the teasing, the dangling carrot. Its all just so damed tired. If this guy really exists(and I have my doubts), I have a hard time believing some tabloid like the NY Post hasn't scoped it out yet. What kind of relationship can this be where nobody ever sees them anywhere? Can't be very fulfilling!

PS-I am having an affair with a closeted Senator from one of the 13 original colonies above the Mason/Dixon line. Let the mad guessing game ensue!

I thought the piece was better than his fiction novel. He seems to be either telling the truth or is pathological about creating a fictional relationship.

I'll assume he's telling the truth until there is some evidence to the contrary. The relationship is irrelevant to the cause of gays in sports as long as it's private/secret. Let him have his fantasy if that's the case. If he makes money from it so what. More people have been taken for more money in less clever ways in this world - buyer beware.

At least he said the right things about the treatment of the issue of gay players in major pro sports.

The mainstream media (weird to call the NY Post "mainstream" but it's all relative, I guess) doesn't have the guts to do this. Personally, I'm surprised a tabloid like the National Enquirer hasn't scoped it out.

You would think people who live around Lemon or his friends would know who this so-called boyfriend would be. It's too difficult to keep any secrets with media around all the time. Anyone could spy on Lemon if they wanted too. So perhaps it is all made up.

I hope he's telling the truth because he's carried this story for so long and it scares me to think how sick he is if he's lying.

Lemon's an embarrassment. That piece he wrote for GQ about the whole situation made me absolutely cringe.

During the last Bendan Lemon thread I went to the Out magazine website and e-mailed a Letter to the Editor. I invited Mr. Lemon to the Outsports discussion board, saying that there was a heated debate going on about him. I said that some people supported his contention and others did not (myself included). I asked if he would like to clear up the situation.

Whether he or others at Out ever came here or not, I do not know. But they have been made aware of our thread.

I thought Lemon hit the right notes in his SI piece.
