Washington Blade review of Take Me Out: \"Consummately staged by Kirk Jackson, “Take Me Out” delivers on two levels: it’s funny and it has something to say.\"
Pat125 and I are going on Saturday! I can't wait!

While I agreed almost 100% with Patrick Folliard's May 27, 2005 Washington Blade review that Canmark generously provided, I must admit to disagreeing about the reviewer not finding the shower scene a little "alluring". Please, I am human wink ! Anyway, I thought that Rick Foucheux totally stole the show as Mason Marzac. His character was brilliant, and he saw baseball (and it's analogy to life) in a way that I believe that some of us obsessive fans do. I imagined as "Mars" was alone at the Empires stadium what it would be like just to have Yankee Stadium to myself for just 15 minutes.

On a note regarding the audience, I was surprised and a bit pleased to see how many elderly men and women were in the crowd. There were actually vans from a few retirement homes that came and picked up a large number of elderly audience members. They didn't seem put off by the nudity nor the language, and I applaud how enlightened they were. I wish my parents were so enlightened considering that they are younger.

I also saw "Take Me Out" Saturday in Philadelphia with a friend who had an extra ticket. I have to agree with the film critic that the character Mason, played by Kraig Swartz stole the show. Everytime he had something to say I had to laugh, I don't think I have ever seen a more bubbly personality in real life.

The character playing Darren was certainly got my vote for best eye candy. Jacques Cowart II looked like he could be an underwear model for Undergear. The rest of the cast was ok but nothing I got excited about.

The theatre was quite intimate as I sat three rows from the stage. In front of me were a man and women who were creating a disturbance with their comments, grunts and Hoos and Haws. The women would constantly say "aw huh aw huh" everytime Darren would come out on stage. She was cleary enamored by this actor and carried on as if she was attending a stripper show. During the first intermission she must have been reprimanded because she toned it down for the rest of the show. She did leave her cell phone on buzz mode though and you could hear it vibrate through her handbag. I think this must have been the first time she ever attended a play.

you sure it was her cell phone buzzing

from the sound of it, it could have been her vibrator
