Full Version: Giants vs Dodgers

Well, is anyone on the Left Coast excited about THIS? Or Jim Tracy's ballsy call to walk Bonds with 2 out and no one on in the 9th? (An argument to bat Kent behind BB?) And what about Barry's recent call to keep the brilliant ass**** 2B next year, or he'll be "pissed off"? Man bites dog!

And as long as the barely-alive Astros hang on (5 behind LA-SF), keep in mind they finish up with a series in San Francisco...
Jim Allen
I'm going to tommorrow nights game, despite hating the Dodgers with all the fire of all the suns in all the universe.

Kind of sad to see so many empty seats at The Stadium last night. Good win for the Dodgers.

I'm closely watching this series on television here in the Gay Bay Area! Last night's game was so sad

This is the best rivalry in baseball IMHO.

The Giants have to re-sign Kent. He and Barry make the team, even though they're PR nightmares.

Go Giants!

Watching the end of this season play out, I'd have to say that SF strikes me as the better team at this moment. These last two weeks should be intense.

Would I like to see my Bravos here in LA for games 3 and 4 in the first round? You bet.
Except the Dodgers gave the Braves fits this year.

Given my choice, I'd rather face the Giants.

Good win for the Giants last night, even getting a cheap insurance run with the overly revered Eric Gagne on the mound. Thrilling foul pop catch by Paul LoDuca, sliding at high speed into the dugout...

Yet I was kinda glad I slept til the 7th inning, since it reduced my exposure to Rick Sutcliffe's punchdrunk boxer cadences and Chris Berman's terminal cuteisms.

Last night's game was 3 hours, 52 minutes. The night before, 3:32. Both 9-inning games. For those of us on the East Coast, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz....

I heard last night that due to an earlier rainout the Giants have one game with the Braves that may have to be made up after the season ends, if the wild-card race isn't clinched. It would be interesting if that happens--how would the Braves treat it? Especially if it makes a difference as to who they play when the postseason begins?
billsf
OOOh, don't talk about that make-up game with the Braves. That's a real thorn in us Giants fans side. It's the one where the umpire didn't call a rainout UNTIL the Braves had tied it up, and it was pouring rain for several innings already!

Hopefully it doesn't happen and the Giants go straight to the playoffs.
billsf
WOO HOO!!!!!!!!!!!!

Giants lead the wild card race by 2 again. Two more games this weekend in Milwaukee. Then 2 against San Diego and 3 against Houston.

Praying they don't have to go to Atlanta.....
Herr Tiggee
This tie game poses an interesting dilemma. I've heard that if SF and LA are separated by 1/2 game (either way) after the last game, SF has to fly to ATL and finish that game on Monday, Sept 30.

And if the results of that game's completion are that SF and LA are in a tie, then SF has to fly back to Cal to play LA on Tuesday, Oct. 1.

And the winner of that game would then have to fly back to ATL to play on Wednesday, Oct. 2.

What a nightmare! But given how exciting this season has been in the NL West, it would be a classic ending if this scenario has to be played out.

Don't even think that this is going to happen to my boys. GO GIANTS!

Well, Giants win and Dodgers win. It goes like this every year in September baseball out here!

Keeps things alive!
billsf
Well. Tonight the Giants face San Diego at home and the Dodgers face Colorado at home.

Looks like it's still going to be neck and neck to the bitter end!
Jim Allen
Put a fork in the Dodgers, they're done. Not mathematically, of course, but I saw a dead team tonight on TV, a team with no fire or sense of urgency. The wild card spot is the Giants' for the taking.

So much for a Freeway Series.
billsf
Actually, The Giants have a chance at taking the NL West.
billsf
Giants win Wild Card! Watch out Atlanta, Giants are the hottest team in baseball and you're going to have a very bad memory of our trip there.
