Twins' catcher AJ Pierzynski told Dan Patrick this morning that he has been traded to the Giants. Pierzynski has been one of the most dependable Twins the last couple of seasons and it'll be sad to see him go. He's a great pickup for the Giants.
I sure hope former #1 overall pick Joe Mauer is ready.

One of the minor league pitchers in the deal is named Boof Bonser. Boof???

Where does this trade leave Benito Santiago? Is he finally retiring?

The Giants are not re-signing Benito Santiago, so it looks like he'll either retire or seek work elsewhere.
I hate to see Joe Nathan go, after improving so much last year. He was a promising starting pitcher prospect, despite being in the bullpen all last year. But A.J. looks like a great overall pick-up.

Benito Santiago filed for free agency. But I don't know what the market will be like for a person at his age. His aim has been lacking this past season (but not as bad as Mike Piazza).
I think A.J. sounds like a good pick up for the Giants. I'm sad to see Joe Nathan leave, he was a real trooper. Too bad they didn't let first baseman Mienkiewitz come along (he's a hunk!)

He's a good hitter too. They are desperately seeking a replacement for JT Snow and Doug would have been perfect.

It's always about size....Anyway, Doug M. has often said he's happy as a Twin & would do whatever to help "the team" be successful.
