Full Version: What happened to David?

Hey guys, I was wondering if any of you had heard from David in Australia lately. There was a topic about him somewhere on this board but I can't seem to find it right now.

Last time I talked to him was 12/23/01, and he said that someone had gone through his E-mails and deleted all of them, so he found my address and wrote to me checking to see if it was me or not.

I was wondering if any of you had talked to him since that time. He never responded to my E-mail, and I was wondering if he was ok.

I understand from someone corresponding with him that someone in his home town went through his e-mail account somehow and found out he was gay and it's causing him major problems. I deleted the thread with his letter and e-mail address as a precaution to protect him. I wrote him but haven't heard back. Will update this when I find out more. It sucks; he's a terrific young guy who's going through a lot right now.

Poor kid

I emailed him and he emailed me and he sure sounded like a great guy. I hope he's able to still read the posts here and that we all support him and wish him best and hope things work out great for him.

Poor kid is right. Bless his heart. He's going through some rough times. My heart goes out to him. I hope he gets some local one on one support to help him. A comforting thought is: No matter how rough it gets, these situations always come out positive in the end. Keep your chin up David. We're here for you bud.

right on you guys! this is the way it should be!!

David, if you are reading this, be strong and know that we care about you -- you are important!

{edited to include great big smiles for David!}

Adding smiles for David....

I'm wondering how someone got into his e-mail account and whether or not said person broke any laws. Perhaps David has some legal recourse?
seanx
Even if he had any recourse, I think he's been humiliated enough without dragging this through any dubious court situation, though I agree with your sentiment Joe.

I feel really out of the loop. Who are you guys talking about?

Apparently David is an athletic teenager facing a difficult time dealing with being gay in a homophobic environment who appealed to Outsports for support. Hopefully he's read some of the posts here and gotten the private messages some have written to him. I also hope he's ok.

I've been in touch with David as well. A close friend of mine has been in closer touch and apparently a neighbor of David's was the villian who checked out his emails and then attempted to blackmail him..I guess it's only gotten worse from there and he's been beaten up, etc...I'm at a loss on what we can do to help him at this point. I believe he has another year of school before he could actually leave town....I know he's aware and grateful of the support from Outsports...hopefully he'll turn here as often as he needs...We're here, David...and if we could jettison you out of there we would...

Thanks for the update, Bryan....that is horrible news to hear about David being beaten due to his neighbor "discovering" his sexuality....are there no laws to protect him there (especially a "minor") in a case like this?....My thoughts and well wishes are with David and if he is able to read these messages just wanted to let him know to hang in there and realize that there are a ton of folks worldwide who are on your side and pulling for your continued safety and well being.

Big smiles to show more love and support for David:

David and I wrote a few times also. What a great, sweet guy, and as he would say, "a champ". If you're reading this, David, much love and concern from Memphis!

Thanks for filling me in. I am really sorry for his troubles. Sounds like a nightmare. I will certainly keep a good thought for you, David! you always have a support group here at Outsports!

I suggest we set up a gay Special Forces to head down under and kick the neighbor's undoubtedly skanky butt!

Geez, this sucks. This is very disturbing.

David: We're all behind you. We will pull through this.

--smiles for you...

Any updates guys? Hows he doing?

Hi guys, I was pleasantly surprised to see that it appears that our friend David has registered in the clubhouse. It also says that he is living in South Sidney, so he must have gotten out of the town he was in, and hopefully away from the harassment. Welcome to the board, and please start posting on the message board as well. It would be great to get an update on your life. We were (and still are) all rooting for you buddy!

If you're reading this, I was MTGuy in the clubhouse way back when.

not of all you know that I have kept in constant contact with david, and he is indeed doing well. He's been struggling, as we all do, but keeping such an incredible brave face during all of it.

I'll have to make sure to pass on your well-wishes to him for you bobcat.

A warm bear hug to you, David, from Detroit, Michigan!!

Just piling on the good wishes for David...hmmmmm....piling on.....

Hi:
I've also been in regular contact and had decided to let David keep a low profile for now since he was going through a lot. Things are looking up and I am really looking forward to meeting him in Sydney in November.
