Hi:

I am posting this on behalf of the researcher and hope some of you can help out:

Researchers at the University of Iowa are conducting an on-line research study on gay men. We are writing to invite your participation in this study, which is part of a dissertation project. The study intends to explore gay men s beliefs regarding masculinity and their experience with the coming out process. Individuals who are eligible to participate are self-identified gay men who are at least 18 years old, are citizens of the United States, and who currently reside in the U.S. or one of its territories.

This on-line study will consist of several questionnaires regarding your views on masculine roles, your experience with coming out, and your feelings about being gay. We will also collect demographic information including your age, race/ethnicity, citizenship, annual income, level of education, state where you currently reside, religious/spiritual identity, and political affiliation. Your responses on the questionnaires are anonymous. Completion of the questionnaires will take approximately 30-45 minutes and is completely voluntary.

Participants who complete the survey within four weeks of the project being initiated will be given the option of being entered into a drawing for one of three $35 Amazon.com gift certificates. Participation in the drawing is not required to participate in this study.

If you have any questions, please contact me at the e-mail address below.

If you are interested and/or have friends or relatives that may be interested in taking part in this study, additional information and the questionnaires can be accessed at the following link:

Accomplished.

Well thought out. A good way to contribute and give feedback. If we don't tell and teach the rest, shame on us.

Done...Thanks for posting, Jim. We certainly can't expect to help future generations if we don't talk about our experiences so they can learn something from them.

Done. A bit confusing (for me) at the tail end, as it involved questions I really hadn't either thought about or had any real opinion on, but otherwise utterly easy and harmless.

I did it last night but there seemed to be many questions that were the same, just worded slightly differently.

I hope we get to see the results of the study!

Cisco would get a lot more response from the gay male crowd if he posted a really hot picture of a guy a put his name on it biggrin.gif

Seriously, I am always leery of using third parties and such. But I figure, "Iowa you make me smile." Or am I just laughing at myself again? I figure the Psych department at the U of I knows there is a high number of freaks in Iowa City so they have to go online to get a valid population sample. biggrin.gif Oh the memories of living in Iowa City. It is a really cool town if you can afford to live there.
