Did anyone else see the show on CN8 on Comcast in Jersey/Pennsylvania/Maryland area? The topic was Are We Ready for Gays in Sports.

Cyd was only on via telephone, but was the best of the bunch. As always, Cyd was well prepared, insightful and informed. Great job!

As for the rest of the show, I always wondered if there was a more annoying TV personality than Lou Tilley and I found one today. That dingy broad Mary something or other who hosts the show. Eek!!! She stammered her way through the entire show, was ill-prepared for the subject matter and mostly just reread quotes from Mike Piazza and Bobby Valentine. She added absolutely nothing. The guy from Gay Games barely got a chance to speak as Lou Tilley pretty much hogged up the show.

Basically, CN8 (as well as Comcast Sportsnet in Phila. for that matter) hires rejects from the network affiliates. They have a nightly news show, and between the anchors and sports staff and field reporters, there are many individuals who used to work for Philly stations (such as Lou Tilley) who were let go because they either weren't very good or just didn't get ratings.

For some reason, even though the cable company that provides service to my apt. building here in Baltimore was bought by Comcast, they don't carry their own CN8 programming. So I didn't get to see the show. I'm not surprised to hear that Cyd did us proud, though!

Actually Joe, there is a different Comcast Sportsnet in the Washington-Baltimore area. They probably carry that one.

I recorded it, and just finished seeing it. I agree that Cyd was the best of the guests on the show. He countered Tilley's argument that the players are not ready for an out player. I liked Cyd's answer when asked why there are no out superstars. He said that there is the fear of being the first and that even when a superstar comes out as straight there is a media spectacle. The show was okay, but would have been better if Cyd was on the set for the whole show.

I, obviously, had a hundred other things to say - that guy Lou Tilley seemed to get a little miffed when I said that the media were the ones with the problem (a great analysis that originated with Jim).

I tried to get them to fly me out, but they weren't having it.

Thanks for the nice reviews, guys!

They do carry the DC/Balt. Comcast Sportsnet, but not the CN8 channel where Cyd was interviewed.
