I am organizing a panel discussion about gay athletes on Sept. 5 in conjunction with the production of "Take Me Out" at New York's Public Theater. I'm looking for gay (preferably) or non-gay sports journalists who would be interested in participating (for free). If you are interested or know someone in the NYC area who would be interested, please contact me at erikp57@hotmail.com. Thanks....

Wish I was based in NYC. I'm a recently out Sports/Projects editor at a mid-sized metro. Recently wrote a "coming out" column. All went reasonably well.

Well, there's those media ho's that run this site, Jim and Cyd. And there's also Bill Konigsberg, who used to work for ESPN, who wrote a very nice story about his time at ESPN that was re-printed here.

I've attended a couple of "Gays in Sports" symposiums in NYC. Robert Lipsyte(sp?) fromt he New York Times has been at a couple of them. And the previously mentioned Bill Konigsberg as well as Dan Woog, author of the book "Jocks" were at one I attended. All three were terrific. Just don't invite Brendan "My-Boyfriend-Is-A-Baseball-Player-On-An-East-Coast-Team" Lemon.

Thanks for your advice. This panel is shaping up nicely, but now I'd like to find a female journalist and/or athlete to participate. Any advice on that?

Christine Brennan from the Washington Post was on a panel I saw and she was great. Intelligent, witty and thoughful without being condescending. I don't know if she is gay or not, but she is very credible.
