sup everybody,
i am watching the cyd zeigler show, twenty minutes in. did anyone catch the introductions?
i didn't and i wondered if cyd was introduced as
a "gay sports guy" because for the first fifteen
minutes cyd had first word on everything and was
pretty dominate and i didn't know if that was him
trying to prove himself as the gay boy who can do sports or him just trying to show his opinion and maybe get a broadcast job at one of the networks.
i didn't like cyd saying the cleveland fans shouldn't boo. couch sucks dude. he is garbage. the experiment is over, let cleveland move on. they've been through enough as loyal nfl fans.
controversial moment: minute 18, cyd criticizes
andy rooney as a part of the "old boy, straight
white male network" that prevents advancement for
populations in society who aren't straight white men. people got a bit heated. it was exciting to see. i think people were caught off guard like who is this guy, hence i was wondering if they knew cyd was a gay homosexual. gays rule,we're #1!
cyd is wearing glasses. quite the intellectual.
they actually make him look hotter. but cyd, white
pants...after labor day??? dude, come on, you're putting us puffs to shame!

Well first of all, the white pants after Labor Day thing is not a rule anymore.
As for Cyd seeming to dominate some topics, the show seemed pretty heavily edited to me. From that, one can easily surmise that Cyd simply had more interesting and intelligent things to say on the various topics.
There were no opening intros of the panelists; rather, they superimposed their names and things like "Website Founder" and "Plays for Gay Flag Football Team". Kind of an odd little program. Kind of all over the map. Don't really know what the qualifications for the panelists are, but it seems like there were justa couple of regular-Joe sports fans.

I missed it. Any rebroadcasts planned? They should have at least one (open) gay guy on ESPN IMO regularly.

I saw the show and I thought Cyd did a good job. I was most impressed with Cyd, the really southern guy, and the woman. The other two white guys (excluding the host) seemed like know-it-alls and pretty annoying. It did look like they edited the heck out of the conversation and that a lot of time was spent with everyone talking at the same time. It was also weird when they would be coming just to the best part of an arguement and then cut away.
The Andy Rooney conversation was where Cyd got to be a little more controversial. It was telling to see who in the group said that they should just suck it up and contribute it to an old guy. Also, they ended the Rooney conversation with the guy who made the point that there shouldn't be sidelines announcers because they're only pretty women. I really didn't get his point except that they're useless because he can't concentrate on what they're saying because he's fantasizing about them. That was a confusing argument.

Cyd said they taped for 2 hours and boiled it down to 22 minutes.

Hey hey now - who do you think I am? They were light tan pants that looked white on TV.

Bravo, Cyd! Even if some of the tag lines were goofy at points......

I thought Cyd did quite well on the show. Seemed to be knowledgeable on all the issues presented, baseball included, even though Cyd "thinks baseball is a game not a sport." As for the show itself, I don't think it was that great. It seemed too disjointed, and would have been better if the panelists were given more time to discuss the issues. I probably would not watch it again unless Cyd or Jim is a panelist. Keep us posted.

It was kind of an odd show, but sort of interesting. I thought Cyd and the woman (one of the tag lines said she was Jesse Owens' granddaughter) really stuck out because they articulated opinions that were somewhat out of the mainstream. I got a kick out of hearing Cyd twice refer to the "straight old white boy network" during the Andy Rooney discussion, and liked seeing the "will compete in Gay Games next month" tagline simply used so matter-of-factly.

I only saw about 20 minutes before my mom called and so I missed the finale. I got the impression the show was edited, and the format was a bit annoying. Cyd came off very well, though.
So how exactly did you get on the show, Cyd? Did you have to have some sort of sports-related fame (such as your Outsports involvement and Jesse Owens' granddaughter)? Did any of the other panelists have some claim to fame?

From what I understand, viewers will get to vote on who they want to come to either the final show or later tapings. My memory is fuzzy on this. Cyd, will we be able to vote for you? Will you be a candidate to be brought back?

Cyd -- You finally fessed up that your pathological hatred of Favre and my Pack stems from that little Super Bowl beating a few years back !
Now that your Pats got rings of their own (even Terry Glenn?!?!) maybe all's forgiven? I see they even made your Top Five list.
Seriously -- good job -- and I agree with Munson Man that it was refreshing to see "will compete in gay games" on the TV screen as a matter-of-fact comment.

Great job on the show. I just saw the videotape of it this morning. You represented very well and seemed to offer some of the better commentary since your sound bites were used more often than others.
It was good to see the graphics referring to your involvement in gay football and the gay games. As someone mentioned already, it was done in such a manner that was so manner of fact that it did not come off as "Cyd the gay guy who happens to have a sports opinion".
The one graphic I was most interested in was that you had a golf lesson from Tiger Woods? That's awesome! When and how did that happen?

Cyd is a punk-ass bitch on crack who should be pimpsmacked from here to next Friday.
Cyd is a total nelly bottom who's such a freakin' loser that he wears TAN pants.
Cyd is a....what? Huh? Oh, I'm venting because of this: [quote]even though Cyd "thinks baseball is a game not a sport."

George Viking, apparently that white pants after Labor Day being dead hasn't made it's way down South. Cyd, thank God you redeemed yourself by saying they were "tan". <EG>
I missed it last night, what about the replays?

BTW, some thoughts to other posts:
- They e-mailed Jim and me a couple weeks ago, and my schedule allowed me to go;
- They mentioned they'd have former panelists on the last show - I don't know about any voting, though;
- The show needs some help. Having been in TV development, I talked to one of the producers for a while - she actually said that a lot of the things they wanted to do (intro the host and panelists) ESPN doesn't like because they just want to get right into the discussion.

Cyd is our House Wigga.
So, you defended Tim Couch? Brave stuff there.
DC Guy is right--do you WANT us voting for you Cyd?
I forgot to tape it but a friend has it on his Ultimate TV recorder, so I'll watch it this weekend.

thanks for the clarity cyd.
you're doing the fashion police proud.
despite george minnesota's comment to the contrary, i am still a firm believer that one does not wear white after labor day. no one in my family does, neither does anybody in my part of ohio. i don't think that rule is something that can just be cancelled. it's like announcing that you're engaged at someone else's wedding reception
...you just don't do it. (etiquette faux pas #7)
anyways, the show itself did seem somewhat cable access-y, but cyd was a shinging star. i will be interested to see how they incorporate hottie max kellerman's new show 'around the horn' into the mix.

I didn't see the show--I don't even get ESPN up here in Canada--but I voted for Cyd anyway. The more gay people on TV the better!
On TSN (The Sports Network--in Canada) we have a show called
Off the Record. It's sort-of a sports version of Politically Incorrect. Michael Landsberg (former sports anchor) hosts and the guest range from current and former athletes, to actors, comedians, and even Playboy models(!)
As for the question of wearing white after Labor Day... perhaps in California--where Cyd lives--one may still be able to wear white. But in New York--where the show was taped--no, you can't. Of course, there is such a thing as
winter white.. And
tan--are we talking Gap khakis tan? You can wear that any time. With Converse sneakers and a Varsity sweater, hey.

Maybe this is ESPN's version of "Star Search", and Cyd's on his way to being an ESPN analyst. On Max Kellerman's new show.

Well, if Cyd keeps talking crap about baseball like he does in his NFL-centric way, who'd want him?
BTW, I should have called Cyd a "punk-ass BEYOTCH" or is that soooo 1995? Is it Biznatch now? I just can't keep up with these damn modern kids and their lingo.
