Glanville comes up with big hit. He's been on a few different teams now but I think he came up with the Cubs. Saw him interviewed and I thought he could be on the Outsports team...any comments?

One theory was that he was the player that Out Magazine editor Brandon Lemmon was dating last year. Interesting quote in this article talking about the game:

"Since we won tonight," Glanville said, "we're guaranteed to get back to Chicago (either for Game 6 of this series, or for the World Series). So who knows -- maybe the ivy will be purple when we get back. We're going back in time now -- to the Stone Age, the Metal Age, all those Ages. Maybe the ivy will go from green to red to purple to fuchsia."

And thats all I'm saying.... biggrin.gif wink

Correct me if wrong, Joe in Philly. I remember hearing that Doug Glanville had a hand in the development of the new Phillies' stadium. He holds a degreee in Engineering.

One thing that always stood out to me about Glanville is that he must be the thinnest ballplayer in the Majors. But I've always liked him. Great defensive player.

I grew up in the same town as Doug Glanville, although he is more than a few years older than me.

However, I know his mother. She was my 9th grade geometry teacher. At the time Doug was still in AAA, so there wasn't much to see, but I think a year or two later he got called up, and Mrs. Glanville retired

According to an item I found on the website of his alma mater, the University of Pennsylvania: "While at Penn, Glanville wrote his senior thesis on the transportation issues surrounding a proposal to build a new ballpark near 30th Street Station." The team decided against that site pretty early on in the process.

Doug Glanville announced his retirement. He was signed to a minor league deal so he could officially retire as a Phillie.

So he won't be coming out while playing...unless he comes out of retirement first. The article says he hasn't totally ruled out the possibility of trying to hook on with a team next spring. After the Yankees released him this spring he turned down some minor league offers.

Article about Glanville in today's Phila Inquirer has this line:

He is getting married in October.
To a man or a woman? The question is unanswered. wink
