Police: Dodgers fan shot, killed by Giants fan

In a Dodger Stadium parking lot, no less. And people have the nerve to complain about Philadelphia? wink

I thought we only did that to yankee fans? ( kidding)

And this took place AFTER the Giants had already clinched the division -- totally unnecessary (kidding, of course)....now let's hear from Charlton Heston and his NRA supporters who will somehow try to claim that this innocent Dodger fan would still be dead if handguns weren't as easy to buy as chewing gum. rolleyes.gif

Police are now saying they're still investigating the motive and aren't sure baseball was involved.

The link contains incorrect info, based on LA Times reports today. Turns out the fan was from Southern California, but was actually a Giants fan (he attended college in the Bay Area). His family actually had Dodgers season tickets. Police are looking for suspected Dodgers fans that shot him.

All of which sounds more likely. There's a huge contingent of smack-talking Raideresque Dodger fans at every game. Their behavior has worsened over the years, no doubt due to the inarguable fact that the Dodgers SUCK. Still, frustration at their team's suckitude is no excuse for shooting opposing fans. But it doesn't surprise me. There are horrible remnants of Raider behavior left over in this city.

I had been hopeful that LA could make the wild card so that I could attend the games and watch the Braves bash them silly. After this incident, I'm glad LA won't make it in. No one should have to look over their shoulder in fear that something will be thrown (bottle), or a punch will be thrown, or a shot will be fired.

AU Tiger, excellent points. San Diego Charger fans
have been pretty rude too...last year a family( onw girl about 12 and a boy about nine) was harressed because they have the "other teams jerseys on.... I was shocked to hear the f word uttered at them

Seems I recall a story a few years back where the Raiders were playing in San Diego and a Charger fan was STABBED by a Raider fan in the parking lot.

If Charger fans verbally harrass visiting fans, that's one thing. Raider Nation has the market cornered when it comes to physical assault, however. Well, at least they did until this Dodger incident. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if the people they've taken into custody from this shooting turned out to also be Raider fans.

The LA Times piece detailed how the suspects were tracked down. Seems that the victim's family hailed down a car and asked that they tail the white SUV making an escape [ Cheap shot at OJ -what the hell is it with white SUV's shuttling murderers in this town? ]
The suspects live in South Gate, a largely Latino hell hole next to South Central LA.

A couple of years ago, my brother took my nephews to Giants Stadium for a Giants-Broncos game. My younger nephew, who was 7 at the time, is a huge Bronco fan and was decked out in Broncos clothing. He was also attending his very first pro sports event. Grown up Giants fans threw food at the kid and cursed him out mercilessly as to make the kid cry. Fans can be such idiots!

Such behavior is absolutely inexcusable -- has the mentality of the American sports fan become this sick? sad.gif....I know it is the very small minority (thankfully) that would even think of saying or doing such dispicable things (especially to young children who are simply there to root on their favorite team) but there is no doubt this has gotten progressively worse over the past decade or so.

I hope that stadiums and teams step up their security to identify these mindless thugs, such as those who harrassed your nephew, and that the actions of these idiots don't prevent youngsters from enjoying sports (whether it be as a participant or a spectator) and all the enjoyment and positive attributes that come with it.
