They're showing women's beach volleyball right now? Maybe Gator Jamie enjoys that kind of thing, but let's get to the Men's Gymnastics! Hamm twins now!

OH! MY! GOD! Can I please sexually hire the Romanian mens gymnastics team with a cushy job, set them up in an apartment and have them as my lovers for several years?
I won't care if they try to claim sexual harassment after that. I'll be in such an endorphin high from all that hunkiness.
They may just be the prettiest team. It's like watching porn. You know.... those eastern european pretty boy porn by Bel Ami.

Yeah, I agree! My personal favortie is Marion Dragalasu(I'm not sure about the spelling, sorry!). His teammates aren't bad-looking either. Another gymnast, I haven't spotted him yet, is Jordan Jotchav. I think he was from Hungary. Again, I'm not certain about the spelling so forgive me!

I'm curious, when I see these hunks perform on the parallel bars, there are several instances when they toss up in the air and land very hard on the bars directly on their biceps. Why doesn't this cause serious bruises?
I mean, if I bump into a nerf ball I get bruises. I know the parallel bars are very well padded, but the force of the fall should still result in bruises as far as I can judge.
Maybe that's why Blaine Wilson has those tatoos on his biceps!

I haven't seen it yet. But I think that tattoo on his bicep may have something to do with the bicep that was torn from the bone.
Nemov is hotness incarnate as always. and belive me, if THe Wizard of Oz had munchkins as hot and sexy as these gymnasts, I would n't find it disturbing. I would have been too busy playing with myself. wink

Well, both Morgan and Paul Hamm have qualified for final rounds in several events. Paul might be the big gold medal winner this year in gymnastics. If you can watch gymnastics in high definition make sure you do, the clarity and muscle definition is amazing.

JR, I agree with you. I've never heard Paul Hamm speak before but his mousy voice surprised me. Is it just me or does it seem like a lot of male gymnasts have squeaky voices? Remember Peter Vidmar and Trent Dimas(from Barcelona 1992)? At least Blaine Wilson sounds normal. Anyway, I'm happy for the U.S. and even happier for the well-deserved gold for the Japanese. The Romanians lost it but I believe their bronze medal is the first for the mens team so they have nothing to be ashamed of. Besides, they're still hot! I can't wait for the womens competition. This may not sound patriotic but I'm rooting for Romania. I'm also hoping Sventlana Khorkina will medal again in the uneven bars. I love watching her on that!

I think Hamm's squeaky voice is the result of slamming the family jewels a few too many times on the parallel bars.

While early on, NBC led us to believe that our US Men's team had a good chance at the gold medal (which they did), they were really only favored by most of the sports media for the bronze. China and Japan were the heavy favorites. So, the silver medal is indeed a wonderful success, and they were understandably thrilled and very respectful towards the Japanese. The Japanese team also did what they needed to do in the end to secure the gold. What changed everything around in this competition, though, was the collapse of the Chinese team very early. This gave an opening to another country, and Romania (with their hunks--Dan Potra is gorgeous human being) definitely came through. The Chinese take gymnastics very seriously to the point where a silver is unacceptable. I predict the Chinese coach will be fired as soon as the Olympic Games are over. This is a disaster to them. Nevertheless, congratulations to great performances by Japan, United States and Romania!

I hope USA Gymnastics sent a huge bouquet to Mrs. Hamm for NOT having a headache 22 years ago. Gatsen's awesome and unique parellel bar routine aside, I doubt whether there would have been any team medals if it weren't for the Hamm gene pool...
And I guess I need to rethink the whole munchkin thing...after hearing Paul talk I can definitely see him joining his brother for a rousing chorus of "We represent the Lollipop Guild"...

The Romanian with the small moustasche scared me.......looked like he should be in some silent black&white film.
Those announcers are the drama kings/queens for sure, man! My favorite was when the Romanian was doing the triple thing off the vault and the guy goes "most people would fear for their life" or something like that. I think NBC gives their announcers crack before they go on air......they are far too chipper and quite odd.

The guy who did the triple is Marian Dragalescu. (I know the name sounds very gay, but that's his real name).
I saw him the night before last doing the floor routine in the all round qualifiers, and he is INCREDIBLY hot. ANd the way he can twist his body would put me in traction.
But that wouldn't matter, my stache would still work.
It's just too bad he had such a bad routine on the parallel bars. He is probably the best gymnast at the games.

I echo everyone's comments about the hunky Romanian Marian guy. The tan definitely helps show off his muscular build and dark handsome good looks.
And I agree that Paul Hamm's voice was a bit squeaky, but I still wouldn't push him out of bed. Anyway, he'd be facing the other way and not talking that much.
As for the sport, I have to say I don't like this new format of only three team members performing each apparatus and then every score count. I liked in the past where they dropped one bad score. That way it gives people a chance to comeback. Also, it allows you to see more team members performing. Doesn't really seem like a team win if the same three people keep going up to do the different apparatus. I know the coaches try to mix it up, but you saw pretty much the same top three for each team.
Still, I'm really happy for the U.S. for winning the silver. (Especially for bad-boy Blaine who had so many surgeries and still came to compete.) And the Japanese did great as well, although I didn't see too many eye candy. (Sorry, didn't like any of their spiky haircuts.) I'm looking forward to the all-around and possibly seeing Nemov from Russia. He has definitely matured quite nicely!

I think Hamm may have gotten some well-deserved sympathy from the judges after that fall on the vault, which countered what I perceive as a reluctance to give the benefit of the doubt to some US athletes.
When someone obviously has a bad break earlier the tendency is to break their way later on when something looks marginal, and you're not quite sure. Pure psychology. Maybe someone who has actually judged gymnastics competition could say.
Actually, I thought Hamm got a big break on the vault itself. I doubt anybody but the incumbent world champion would have gotten 9.137 stumbling off the mat to the side on a vault. The scores all seemed kind of high, though, compared to the women's scores yesterday, at least to my untrained eye.
Looking ahead to the event finals. Plenty of questions:
How many medals will Hamm get? He's been kind of lost in the Michael Phelps hype, but he's up for 4 event finals. I doubt he'll medal on pommel horse, but the other events are possible, especially floor.
Can the Chinese regroup after a disastrous olympics so far for both men and women. Normally, Teng Haiben on the pommel horse and Li Xiaoping on vault and parallel bars would be serious contenders for gold but who knows?
What about the Romanians? Can the veteran Urzica, who had a brilliant team competition, win gold on the pommel horse again? Can Marian Dragulescu, who's been disappointing after dominating the European Championships fly in his signature events, vault and floor?
Can the Greeks win gold on the Rings?
Can Canada get a medal?
Finally, can the great Alexei Nemov soar on the high bar one last time? I'd like to see him get a medal so he can take off his shirt in the exhibition again!
