I don't think there's any left on free TV. No cable for me.

Yes, you've fallen in love with the sport. Now you can fall in love with the movie.

Men With Brooms

Directed by and starring Paul Gross (nothing wrong with that! - remember "Due South?") and co-starring Leslie Nielson. A romantic comedy, coming soon to a video discount bin near you, or on your next flight to Sudbury, Ont.

I was certain this was a joke, then I followed the link. I cannot believe this movie has been made. I cannot believe I didn't know about it before now. I cannot believe I haven't seen it yet. Though I don't expect there will be a lot of demand for a curling movie in Dallas.

I actually want to see the movie. Being that Im Canadian and all

A friend of mine actually wrote the book of the movie.

A huge amount of Canadians love the sport. It actually takes more skill that you realize.

Men With Brooms opens in Canada on March 8th. Not sure when/if it will open in the U.S. The film's official website is quite useful: it contains a glossary of curling terms, rules, etc. Although I'm looking forward to seeing it, the trailer didn't make it look all that good. But then again, it's got Paul Gross and that's reason enough to see it. (It also stars Molly Parker, who seems to be in just about every other Canadian film in recent years... Last Wedding, The Five Senses, Kissed, etc.)

okay, i stumbled upon curling while watching the olympics. i knew it entailed sliding stones across the ice and a lot of sweeping to direct said stones, but that was it. i was fascinated and couldn't stop watching. unfortunately, i couldn't figure out the scoring or rules, so i always had to wait for the commentators to tell me if the shot(?) that i was so impressed by was actually brilliant or a huge mistake. do you know how debasing it is to rely on those inane announcers?

so, can anyone briefly and simply explain the rules and scoring for me?
