Time for the Ruskies to go home. What a bunch of cry babies. Not all of them but some of them. Its always a few who spoil it for the many, eh?

Anybody esle getting sweaty palms as the hockey clock counts down to the gold medal game??? I sure am. I think the team who makes the least amount of mistakes, and has the best goaltender will win today.
With that thought:
Lets Go USA!!!!!!!!!

I forgot to add, I look for Canada to try to get one as soon as possible to take the crowd out of the game..

Let me be the first to congratulate Team Canada on their gold medal victory over Team USA. Well played, and earned. As I figured Mike Richter should have been the starting goalie, and if anyone had any doubts that he should have been the starting goalie for Team USA they should be erased today. The man was simply brilliant. He is without a doubt in my mind the best US goalie playing today. Unfortunately for Team USA they got outplayed today by a Team that maybe wanted it a bit more. A tough loss to swallow..but at least another North American team takes home the gold if it can't be U.S.
Congratulations to Team Canada!!
And I am still mighty proud of the U.S. mens Hockey Team. You showed you can play with anybody guys..

Don't normally follow hockey, but liked watching this game. Noticed there doesn't seem to be as much fighting in the Olympics. Different rules? Better players? National pride? Whatever I actually enjoyed the game. New experience for me.

What an exciting game--for the first two periods! No knock against Canada, because this is their national game, they played like champions, and they won their first gold medal in the sport in 50 years. I salute them wholeheartedly. Go Canada!

And what about Jarome Iginla: wow! He and Martin Brodeur turned the game into a near-rout. Really, though, the entire team played a marvelous game.

Go Team Canada!

Fighting isn't allowed. Had anyone fought, they would have been thrown out of the game. And it's also true that there are better players. You don't have the players who mostly specialize in getting into fights.

It seems to me that as the tournament went on, the USA seemed to be less able to take advantage of the larger ice and no center red line. Today's game was much closer to the NHL-style dump-and-chase game than the international game. I thought Canada thoroughly outplayed the USA and definitely earned their gold medal. It's a little disappointing but a silver medal isn't bad.

(I have to say it's a little disgusting to think that Eric Lindros has a gold medal. He was virtually invisible throughout. The more I think of it, the more I realize how overrated he was all these years.)

Now, will the NHL be smart and adapt some of the international rules? Obviously they won't widen the rinks. Not financially feasible to get rid of rows of seats. But get rid of the center-ice line and drop the puck in 15 seconds.

Although not a huge hockey fan, there was no way I was going to miss this one! Definitely the biggest sports event for Canadians since that legendary hockey series against the Soviets in 1972 (which, frankly, I've grown weary of hearing about, after 30 years...Seph and the few other Canadian 'Outsports' fans probably know what I mean).

I wasn't overly-optimistic going into the game...after all, the US scored more goals and won more games during the Olympics. And when Canada couldn't score with a two-man advantage, I started to sweat. But our guys never gave up.

Congratulations also to Team USA...a silver medal is something to be proud of too. And it was nice to see the four Red Wings players (Canadians Steve Yzerman and Brendan Shanahan with Americans Chris Chelios and Brett Hull) posing for a photo as re-united teammates.

Team Canada..congrats. But this is so long overdue. Isn't this their national sport?
Rather ironic that North American teams played for gold, and two teams from Eurasia played for bronze. Seeing as how Belarussian players fed the Soviet machine in the past, I found it appropriate that they should face the Ruskies for a medal. Too bad they couldn't beat win the bronze.
Olympic hockey proved to be an NHL affair this year.
