If your cable system is Comcast and you get this CN8 channel they've created...according to the weekend sports-on-TV listings in today's paper, they are showing the following games on CN8: Mets/Expos tonight, Mariners/A's tomorrow and Cubs/Braves followed by Giants/Padres tomorrow night, Angels/Rangers Sunday afternoon. I have no idea if this is going to be a regional thing, i.e. if one of the teams involved has CN8 in their market the game will only be shown in that area. I don't know how the MLB blackout rules will apply. I don't know if this will be ongoing all season or if it's just a preview for the MLB package on digital cable. But if you're home this weekend and you get CN8 you might want to check it out.

MLB has been previewing all week, up until this Sunday, I believe. Seen about twenty games so far. I need to get out more.

So tonight (at least here) there was no baseball game on CN8. Maybe that blackout rule applied since the Mets were involved. We'll see about tomorrow...

And again, no game on today. Why the hell would they bother putting out these listings? The games are even listed on their TV Guide channel.

I have cablevision but our TV guide listing channel said that these games were going to be on CN8, which is channel 64 for me. Yet when I wanted to see Gil Meche pitch yesterday against Oakland (he's on my fantasy team), all I got was a bullshit cooking show.
I wasn't particularly pleased!

That cutie Gil Meche is a lot of guy's fantasy, Josh wink ....I don't blame ya for being pissed, though, for not being able to see the game (which turned out to be a great pitcher's battle with Tim Hudson defeating Gil and the M's 2-1).

FYI, the free MLB "Extra Innings package" preview ends today....but if you've a little bit of extra cash lying around IMHO it's worth it to get 55-60 extra games a week that you otherwise wouldn't be able to pick up locally....I'm not home that often (at least during the week, anyway) but when I am it's great to be able to see whichever game I want (even if it's one from the west coast at 2AM) and not the one that the execs at ESPN think will get the highest ratings.

I've particulary enjoyed watching the Extra Innings preview to see the local telecasts of the game. One thing I love seeing are the local commericals/promos each team runs, which you'd never ordinarily see on a national telecast.

I like the local ads too, but one I don't ever want to see again is that annoying Ghostbusters jingle the Marlins have. I literally lunge for the mute button every time it comes on. It's nearly as unbearable as the organ drone that plays whenever a Brave gets on base. (How can the players stand hearing that obnoxious noise several times a day?)

Less fans singing badly, more players acting badly. I like the one with Curt Schilling hitchhiking from Arizona, and I saw one with Bret Boone that was cute.

I watched some of the Yankees game at my brother's today. He had digital cable so he had the MLB free preview. He just bought a 60-inch screen HDTV. I wanted to move in. wink
