A conservative group, Generation Life, is planning five days of protests against the distribution of free condoms to athletes at the Olympics.

Their view: "condoms promote promiscuity" ... "We want to expose the horrific realities of abortion, tie in our message of chastity and tell people that condoms are not that safe."

The proponents' view: "They're available like aspirin, Tylenol and bandages. It's good public health policy."

I am sure this group is related to those groups that come out of the wood work and argue against giving clean needles to iv drug users, with their lame argument that its promoting drug use. Give me a break!

They already started their "massive protest" yesterday outside the Delta Center (excuse me, Salt Lake Ice Center) and the Main Media Center. It was covered by the local media. It involved a total of 2 (that's right, TWO) protesters.

I think there may be a bunch of right-wing psychos here who would love to join in, but they are used to doing most of their political dealings behind closed doors. And the people who protested yesterday are not local, they are from out of state.

There are nuts on both sides of the spectrum - Don't give then any media attention & they will dry up & blow away !
