Finals In From Hockey

Hockey Hands Out some Gold: The A-Rec Division of hockey ended today with its two medal games. The New York Lions beat the Los Angeles Blades for the bronze in the early morning game. The Lions had been decimated in October by various players being unable to attend the Games; that turned into two blow-out losses to start the tournament. But, they rebounded in the bronze medal game and took home third place. The Lions' Beau Lavender won the Best Goalie Award for the Tournament, having faced 123 shots with an 88% save percentage.

In the gold medal game, it was the Boston Lobsters beating the Colorado Climax, 5-0. It was Boston's second Gay Games gold medal in a row, following up their win in Amsterdam in 1998. Boston dominated the game from the first face-off and never let up. The Lobster's Brian Cordeiro won the MVP Award for the tournament.
