Is It A Gay
Thing, Or A Guy Thing?
We've gotten many
letters in reaction to Cyd
Zeigler's column arguing that gay men oggling beautiful athletes
is more about their sex than their sexuality.
My Straight
Brother Oggles Women, Too
You're so correct in your
observations...I used to play racquetball with my brother and I
swear, every time a woman walked by the observation area (whether
she was watching or not) he would make that obnoxious, loud kissing
sound...
But then I came out, went to strip
bars and found myself doing the same thing.
It's true, men are pigs, gay or
straight..

Straight Guys Will Finally Get It
You summed it up better than I could -
and any straight guy who reads your post will finally get the point,
too. Thanks for a GREAT site and keep posting the pics that

Gay "Lifestyle" Is "All About Sex"
No it is a gay thing...I
have been out and openly gay for over 20 years, and gay men and
lesbians feel like they HAVE to flaunt and point out that they are
gay a hell of a lot more than straight men or women do. It is just a
part of life w/ straight people. For some reason gay folks, in my
experience do not know how to separate who they are and sex. It is
one and the same to them. Get a life, be yourself, be an athlete who
happens to be gay instead of being a GAY athlete.
I hang out w/ straight
men all the time, I rarely hang out or have any gay friends. I can't
stand going to gay bars because it is all about sex. I much prefer
going out and hanging out w/ my straight friends, because it is
about hanging out w/ friends, going to see bands, listening to music
you like, and being yourself. The whole gay 'lifestyle' and gay bars
are all about sex. I have heard this many times over and over again
from all my straight friends who have ever gone into a gay bar about
how much the gay guys are all out looking for sex.
Gary Owen The
Myth Has Its Roots Great
article (it's not a gay thing; it's a guy thing). It's so true
and I really like the way you wrote it. It was fun to read. To
delve into the issue of gays being sex-craved a little, I think it
seems to most people that we're sex craved because they hear
about gays having sex in public places, sex clubs, etc. Part
of the reason that gays look for sex that way is that, at a time it
was the only place to find it. Our society, being so
unaccepting of gays, have kept many in the closet forcing them into
cruising parks, etc . . . Ruben There's
More Nuance To Sports Than Sex I
disagreed with your article because I felt like there is more nuance
to the phenomenon of gay men watching male sports than equating us
to straight men watching the boobs of chicks bounce while playing
basketball. Upon
reaching sexual maturation everybody lives their lives with the
reality of sexual attraction, but I don't think it dominates
everything we do. I almost felt like you were being an apologist for
sexism in regard to women sports when for example, Jen Capriati, Serena,
Venus, Davenport, and Hingis have made tennis a wonderful spectacle
of intrigue, cattiness, and awesome athletic ability over the past
five years. Who cares about that Anna chick? some people do, but a
lot do not. So
when I watch my beloved Pirates, I do get a kick out of seeing Brian
Giles tender, juicy ass in one size too small white baseball pants.
But one day he'll retire and I will still love my Bucs. And I don't
feel that way about all the players on the team. so watching
football with guys tackling each other isn't hot to me. Watching Donovan
McNabb, especially when he is in brown leather in post game
interviews, is extremely hot to me. But my desire is to watch sports
and cheer on my team. Jay June
