ForeUS
Women’s Golf Tour kicked off their Inaugural Season with
their first event in Palm Springs. Participants played at
the luxurious Doral Desert Princess Resort in 80 degree
weather. Golfers from Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota, Texas as
well as many Californians participated in the Inaugural
Event.
ForeUS is a national organization established to promote
the acceptance and to increase the influence of the lesbian
golfer through scheduled tournaments across the country.
ForeUS Women's Golf Tour offers a dynamic opportunity for
participants with a strong 2007 tournament schedule -- St.
Croix, Virgin Islands April 25-29, San Francisco Aug. 11-12
and the National Championship in Las Vegas Nevada Oct 20-21.
The ForeUS
Tournament was a great way to kick off THE lesbian party of
the year. Call it a rite of passage, but you have to attend
at least ONE Dinah Shore Weekend event to receive your
Lesbian Card! Generally speaking, once you do, you will want
to attend again.
One would
think that because it is the first stop on the LPGA season
tour that golf would be a major part of coming to Palm
Springs (the tournament attracts tens of thousands of
spectators). However you would be surprised how little of a
role it actually plays; many of the lesbians have never
golfed and really are not even aware of the golf tournament.

Weekend is all about 15,000+ lesbians attending all day pool
parties, comedy shows, concerts as well as doing their fair
share of dancing, drinking, flirting and being seen!
Virtually every actress in Hollywood who is either a lesbian
or has played one on TV, is friends with one or just hasn’t
come out yet can be found hosting some sort of party. It is
nothing short of Lesbian Mecca!
With your
name tag on (complete with color dots to tell others if you
are available or not) and drink in hand, adult women from
all over the world participate in a spring ritual that would
easily rival the Spring Break college frat parties down in
Florida.
Why is it
so popular? Because women get to be themselves! Palm Springs
is an incredibly accepting community set up to attract
tourists looking for a quick getaway in the sun and it’s a
perfect getaway for those who have been trapped in the snow
all winter.
While there
are your stereotypical sponsors, it seems Corporate America
is starting to recognize the power of the lesbian dollar.
Mainstream sponsors such as American Airlines, Miller Lite,
Dole, Aquafina, Diet Pepsi and Tylenol PM were some of the
corporate sponsors who seem to be recognizing the lesbian
spending power. Whether you are a golfer or looking for a
great party the Dinah weekend is a great place to start the
spring season.
