GLISA Welcomes Six New Memers

Vancouver – “Our wildest dreams are coming true right in front of our eyes,” commented Thomas Kevin Dolan, founding member and co-president of Gay and Lesbian International Sport Association. “We have accepted and approved another six membership applications bringing our new team total to 20,” announced Dolan today.

“Clearly, what GLISA is offering has struck a chord with the international GLBT sport community” added Rachel Corbett, Executive Director.

The new members are:

Team Arizona (U.S.A.)
Team Arizona is the state-wide umbrella organization for GLBT sport groups in Arizona. Founded 14 years ago, it has 250 members and liaises closely with several GLBT sport clubs including Frontrunners, cycling and softball.

Abseitz Stuttgart (Germany)

Pan Idraet (Denmark)
This 20-year old multi-sport club from Copenhagen has over 500 members participating in ten sport disciplines. Pan Idræt is a member of the Danish National Sports Federation as well as the Danish Gymnastics and Sports Association.

Advantage Tampa Bay (USA)
This GLBT tennis club was founded six years ago. Comprising 80 members from recreational to elite, it is a member of International Gay Tennis Alliance (IGTA) and hosts the annual Citrus Classic clay court tournament.

Gay West Village Bicycle Club (Canada)
Founded three years ago, this Toronto cycling club has 84 members.

Northern Wave Swimming Club (United Kingdom)
This aquatics sport club serves the GLBT community of greater Manchester and northwest England. Founded seven years ago, it has 280 competitive members and over 400 recreational members.

“We are very proud of our rapid growth and trust that the mission we developed will be of tremendous support to our members,” adds Ole Udsholt,  Board Member of GLISA from Copenhagen.

GLISA’s mission is to develop gay and lesbian sport worldwide by sanctioning world and continental games and creating a global calendar of GLBT sport events. The association fosters the creation of new GLBT federations, clubs and teams, supports existing GLBT sport organizations, and works in partnership with other sport and cultural organizations to pursue this mandate.

GLISA invites all sport organizations who share its vision, mission and values, and who support its business model, to become members.
