Sirius to Broadcast from Chicago

Press Release

SIRIUS Satellite Radio and Gay Games VII announced today that SIRIUS OutQ, the nation’s first and only 24/7 radio channel for the GLBT community, will be the exclusive national radio broadcast partner for Gay Games VII, an international sports and cultural festival being held in Chicago from July 15-22, 2006 .

SIRIUS OutQ, channel 106, will broadcast coverage of the events of the entire week including live coverage of the Opening Ceremony from Soldier Field and the Closing Ceremony from Wrigley Field, and interviews, profiles and fascinating stories of many of the athletes, directors and performers. In addition, SIRIUS OutQ hosts will offer color commentary and behind-the-scene facts about the Gay Games.

In its 25 year history, the Gay Games has become one of the most anticipated events in GLBT communities worldwide. Chicago will host more than 12,000 athletes from 70 countries and an anticipated 100,000 spectators and fans for the seventh quadrennial Gay Games, held in North America for the first time in over a decade.

“The Gay Games returns to North America on the first and only full-time 24/7 gay radio network – SIRIUS OutQ. We are so proud to be chosen by the Gay Games to broadcast constant coverage for people in their cars and homes all over North America, “ said Jeremy Coleman, SIRIUS Vice President of Talk and Entertainment Programming. “Gay Games athletes also have inspirational stories to tell – and their emotional stories of achievement and pride will be the hallmarks of our coverage.”

“SIRIUS will bring Gay Games VII a presence no other Gay Games has had in its 25 year history,” said Tracy Baim, Board Co-Vice Chair, Gay Games VII. “By providing the most comprehensive coverage the Gay Games has ever had, SIRIUS OutQ will capture and broadcast the true spirit of the Gay Games like never before. SIRIUS OutQ and Gay Games VII both share high ideals for our community – and this partnership will truly deliver the heart and spirit of what the Games intend to accomplish.”
