We all have those moments. The
ones when we're watching a triple overtime unfold, or we're hitting
the last-second jumper ourselves - the ones that stay with us the
rest of our lives. They remind us of why we're passionate
about sports - why everything from the Tallahassee Little League
Championships to the Super Bowl can get us excited. Some
of us here at Outsports, and some of our readers, have put together
our lists of our Top Moments In Sports. We hope some of these
lists remind you of "where you were when..." and that they
inspire you to create your own list. Whether you have 3, 5,
10, or any number of favorite sports moments, e-mail
them to us and we'll post them here.

DON MAJKOWSKI'S ILLEGAL FORWARD
PASS
It was 1989 and the Packers hadn't beaten the Bears in, oh, a
thousand years or so, and it didn't look like it was going to happen
this time, either. On 4th and goal from the Bears 17-yard-line,
"Majik" pulled back from center, rolled right, faked a QB
run, and with his toe just across the line of scrimmage, zipped the
ball to Sterling Sharpe in the end zone with no time remaining on
the game clock. Packers win, 14-13. Instant replay actually
overturned the "illegal forward pass" flag that was thrown
on the field, and the Packers began a decade of dominance over the
Bears.
"After further review, the Bears still suck" has become
the mantra of the Packer faithful.
BADGER BASKETBALL TO THE FINAL FOUR
Just two months ago, in one of the most improbable NCAA Tournament
showings in recent memory, Dick Bennett's Wisconsin Badgers beat up
on Fresno State, LSU and Purdue en route to a shocking Final Four
appearance. An entire state nearly went into cardiac arrest (of
course, that could have been the cheese and the brats).
BRETT FAVRE'S DEBUT
You knew he was charmed from the beginning. When Brett Favre
replaced Majkowski in the third game of the '92 season, and threw a
last-minute game winning touchdown (53 yards) to beat the Bengals,
24-23, Green Bay had a found a new kind of "Majik" and the
seed that would grow a temporary dynasty.
RON DAYNE ONE-UPS RICKY
WILLIAMS
November 1999, a Big Ten match-up pitting Wisconsin against lowly
Iowa, and combined with the rapid fall of Penn State, would put the
Badgers in a second consecutive Rose Bowl. But bigger than that (260
pounds bigger, to be exact), Ron Dayne would plow his way in to NCAA
rushing history. And I got to see it up close.
PEDRO BATTLES OFF 14 PITCHES
A very personal memory -- the first time, as a kid, that I
dared to sneak a transistor radio into bed with me so I could listen
to end of the Milwaukee Brewers game. My favorite player, Don Money,
was due up soon when my mom told me to get to bed. I snuck the radio
into my room, turned it on very low, and listened as lowly second
baseman Pedro Garcia fouled off 14 full-count pitches before WALKING
with the bases loaded to score the winning run in the bottom of the
ninth. Don Money never got up to the plate in that inning, but
listening to Bob Eucker call those 14 foul balls -- with escalating
excitement and background crowd noise -- was one of the most amazing
experiences a kid could have.
OK, my REAL favorite memory
was seeing my first locker room interview with a shirtless Mike
Alstott. :) Woof.
