Rendez-Vous With Sports
THE 1st World Outgames Montréal 2006 Sports
Programme will be an exciting display of athletic
achievement, catering to all levels of ability.
Competitions will be spread out over seven days, making
extensive use of world-class athletic facilities
originally built for the Games of the XXI Olympiad in
1976 and exceptionally maintained ever since.
To
ensure that the Outgames run smoothly, participants will
have ready access to all venues with a minimal amount of
travel time between sites. The map shown illustrates the
major zones that will serve as the venues for all
activities. Strategically selected for their convenience
and utility, all zones are located within a maximum of
7.5 kilometres (5 miles) from the Gay Village, the heart
of the GLBT community of Montréal.
The majority of all sites are easily accessible by métro
(subway) and are within 20 minutes of the Village, thus
ensuring maximum attendance at all competitions,
exhibitions and shows. Indeed, these installations are
choice locations for all athletic, cultural and
conference activities. Sport participants can register
beginning June 2004 — but hurry to register! Team
sports, such as swimming, soccer, softball, volleyball,
and rowing, to mention just a few, will fill up quickly!
