Everyone is eligible to vote. The spirit of the competition is that each voter can vote in each contest one time; We chose a software that limits votes-per-person for that reason. We hope everyone will hold to that spirit of the competition. And we reserve the right to dismiss individual votes if we find that this guideline has been violated.

Cheer New Yorkcheerny.org New York, New York Cheerleading Founded: 2002 A potpourri of people – LGBTS doctors, designers, even an Olympic athlete -- the cheerleaders and auxiliary of Cheer New York (aka, Cheer NY or CNY) are athletes for life, literally. In addition to cheering for other LGBT sports like soccer and swimming, and large-scale sporting events like the NYC Marathon and Sharks Women’s Professional Football team, CNY dazzles for dollars and saves lives from life-threatening illnesses with our “Cheer for Life” fund, as well as performing for people with disabilities, in recovery from substance abuse, and of course, attendees at all major NYC Pride events! From our pyramid’s pinnacle to our bases below, CNY’s the best gay-sports group of 2008 because of our community service and huge ones…smiles, that is! |
San Francisco Gay Basketball Associationsfgba.com San Francisco, California Basketball Founded: 1986 Started in 1986, SFGBA is the oldest continuous gay basketball program nationally. We have enjoyed outstanding success in NGBA-sanctioned tournaments, including Men’s Open Division gold at Gay Games VII. In 2008 two SF teams, Rockdogs and Shock, won four NGBA tournaments. Last year SFGBA coordinated with LOGO Channel in its reality series “Shirts & Skins,” a documentary featuring the Rockdogs team, which aired fall 2008. Incorporated in January 2008 as a qualifying 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, last year SFGBA awarded charitable contributions to Cheer San Francisco and LYRIC, both qualifying non-profits. In running our weekly, open play pick-up games program and also the Castro Basketball League with fall and spring seasons, we provide scholarships to all participants lacking means to pay. |
