LANES is a proud member of Greater Boston’s LGBT sports community, and even more proud to support the bid for Boston to host the 2014 Gay Games. We come from a city rich in sports tradition. LANES is the Boston-based swim team for the New England gay and lesbian community and their friends. Our mission is to foster acceptance in a healthy and friendly environment. We also wish to provide a social venue to meet people with similar desires and goals. LANES has organized three swimming competitions in the past eight years. Many of our members also compete at other teams' meets held mostly over North America and some international locales, including the last two Gay Games. |

We've come a long way! Swim teams often come and go, but we've been able to stick around, and in our 5th year we earned a third place at the Arizona State Swimming Championships, beating out much larger straight teams. It was our best finish yet and really helped boost team unity and confidence. As we try to grow our program we also try to give back to the community through fund raisers and volunteering with local GLBT issues and projects. Our members are involved in a wide variety of community organizations and we invite everyone to participate in our team and special events. |
