Congratulations to the 2010 Outsports Top Gay Sports Group:

Muffin Tops Softball Team

The Seattle-based group narrowly beat out the Milwaukee Gay Volleyball Association in incredibly close voting. Both groups do a great deal for their local communities, and both were able to rally national support from other teams in their sport; Kudos to them both for their positive energy!

Thanks to everyone who participated in this year's contest. And special thanks to the Gay Games VIII in Cologne, Germany for sponsoring the contest; The Muffin Tops receive one free registration for the Gay Games for their victory. We hope to see you all in Cologne!

I checked the standings right at midnight EST and the muffin tops were ahead by
1 vote. Are you sure not late voted were counted?

Seems that this voting was not as smooth as it should have been. I still don't
understand how MGVA could have won on the correct date, which WAS easliy
understood and after debate from some outside force, the admin decided to reopen
and reclarify. Doesn't seem fair, but support is what this was about and it is
what it is.

Lesson: If you throw a hissy fit, you can get the ref to reverse their decision
and extend the game longer so you can actually score enough points to win!
Hooray!

Hate to judge -- but it's suspicious that greater than half of the
Muffin Top votes came in after the voting period was over then extended.

You'd
think outsports.com would try to promote good sportsmanship -- not award its
opposite. Sad.

Why be such a hypocrite? Being a sore loser is a perfect example of poor
sportsmanship. If the voting would have ended at midnight EST on
the first original date the Muffin Tops would have won anyways. The
voting stayed open longer then it was supposed to and late votes were
counted which put the other team ahead. So is that fair? No one threw
a hissy fit and it was the website admin who decided to open the voting
longer due to all the confusion.
