Total Nonstop Action (TNA) Wrestling takes a bold step Monday, officially debuting the first openly bisexual wrestler at a major U.S.-based professional wrestling promotion.

Orlando Jordan is the character – and truly is bisexual, not just portraying a gay (or bi) character, as has been the norm in pro wrestling’s past.

Jordan made his debut for TNA Wrestling on Jan. 4, with no hint that night of his sexuality.  He walked to the ring for a February match accompanied by a male and a female.

Monday, the cat is out of the bag, so to speak.

On “TNA iMPACT!” (Monday, 9-11 p.m. Eastern Time, Spike TV), a show that was taped on March 23 in Orlando, Fla., Jordan is lowered into the ring from the arena’s rafters wrapped in yellow police tape with the TNA logo.

Jordan then crawls through the ring and ultimately walks to a nearby white couch where he sits between a shirtless male and a sexy female.

Behind the trio is the tri-colored bisexual pride flag, plus two male symbols and one female symbol.

Jordan has been wrestling professionally since 1999 and previously worked for World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE).

Pro wrestling has a long history of stereotypical gay characters: flamboyant and over-the-top. Such as Gorgeous George, “Exotic” Adrian Street, Adrian Adonis, Rico, the West Hollywood Blondes, Chuck and Billy, and others.  Wrestler Chris Kanyon (real name: Chris Klucaritis) is openly gay, but did not come out until after leaving World Championship Wrestling (WCW) and the WWE.  He is now retired from the industry.

All have been portrayed by straight wrestlers.

Jordan, from Richmond, Va., played football and wrestled in high school.  He also attended Boise State University.

TNA Wrestling also features Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Kurt Angle, Sting, Jeff Jarrett, AJ Styles and others, such as gay-friendly Kevin Nash.

Jordan is actually more gay than bi. The guy who plays his boyfriend in his real
life boyfriend. It was also the guy that WWE fired him for since the homophobes
there didn't like his boyfriend showing up at shows.

This will not even well.
In fact, Jordan should worry about his safety. Wrestling fans are some of the
craziest people on the planet and hate the hint of anything gay. Ironic when you
think about what they watch.

I think Jordan is a trailblazer who people will cheer for or against because he
is there to entertain. Just like Adrian Adonis!
Paulie   |156.34.35.xxx |2010-03-29 09:18:48
Yeah, I don't trust TNA or any pro wrestling company to handle this well. Or for
certain wrestling fans to react well either.

This won't help the gay agenda in any way. Keep in Mind , gay or not Orlando
Jordon is pretty much an asshole....oh , I suppose that's the point ....
I met him   |66.176.48.xxx |2010-04-15 17:49:59
He's a cool guy. What are u talkin about. I've met him. Very polite and
respectful.
awsomeness   |24.90.243.xxx |2010-06-23 06:59:35

idea about hiss last know btw do u know if he has a facebook, myspace or
twitter?
George   |67.142.166.xxx |2010-03-29 17:04:40
My question is when will Jeff Jarret come out
Martin   |72.95.62.xxx |2010-03-30 14:37:13
Good for him.... I hope he does well. Unfortunately we have too much hatred in
this sport and the world for that matter. So eventually some crazy who didn't
take his meds will do something stupid...
Orlando   |96.56.99.xxx |2010-03-31 13:32:10
Truthfully I still think Orlando is a great professional wrestler. Just because
he is bi or gay does not change the accomplishedments he has done for
professional Wrestling and his cildhood.
furthermore no one says nothing about
to girls being bi.

Actually Ross, they fired him because said boyfriend was underage at the time.
If WWE fired people because of their sexuality, then the openly gay Pat
Patterson would have been gone a long time ago.

wow i cant believe it. i wish him the bst of luck! ps:is kevin nash

in answer to David, no, Kevin Nash is not gay, however behind the scenes, he is
supposedly a lot more kind and friendly then people give him credit for, or
assume.

Most people hear the name of Nash, and think of his tenure in WCW,
where he was out for himself, and only himself. He made a reputation for being a
"rosterspot hog", unwilling to allow people he deemed as lesser
wrestlers to beat him.

However, in truth, big Kev is infact, supposedly, a bit
of a softy. He was infamously fined and suspended from TNA following a non
scripted outburst he made at an iMPACT taping aimed at Team 3D and thier
apparent lack of veteran ring savvy, following an incident where Brother Ray
inadvertantly injured Chris Sabin(even going so far as to warn the production
team as soon as he picked up the mic, that he was about to start shooting, which
incase anyone dosnt know, is wrestling slang for "going off the record",
or basically breaking character and saying non scripted stuff .

in the past,
Nash famously made fun of smaller wrestlers ( "Vanilla midgets" anyone ?
), but again, in truth, he is apparently a very kind, very approachable fellow.
Most people would assume big Kev would be of the "old" mentality of the
average wrestler, but he is infact, a very open minded and accepting fellow.

Kevin Nash is straight, but he has been an outspoken supporter of gays for many
years.

Also, sad to say that another man listed in this article, Chris
Kanyon, has died of an apparent suicide this past Friday. RIP, Chris.

Did not know Diesel was gay friendly, that is pretty cool.

Surprised they did
not include Goldust in the list of the flamboyant.

People need to get over themselves. He's bisexual, so what? He's not going to
grope every wrestler he's performs with. People have preferences, standards, and
self control - being bisexual doesn't change that. I just wish people were more
oepn-minded and mature about sexuality. He's a great wrestler, performer, and
probably a great person off-camera. A person's sexuality shouldn't change you
opinion of them. And if it does, YOU'RE the one with the problem, not them.
TNFAN#1  - I DONT CARE   |174.132.18.xxx |2011-02-04 17:18:39
I really dont mind if the guy wants to wear make up and stuff or be open about
his relationship as long as TNA handle it in a mature fashion the
sexuality/dress sense shouldnt be the be all and end all ... val venis and
goldust are living proof that this dosent work for straight guys let alone
gay/bi/trans whatever ... like give him and eric young gimicks and stuff that
dosent revolve around what their wearing or who their sleeping with.. theres
more to people than that if they dont hurry up and inject some fresh material
its gonna wind up billy and chuck or leni and lodi all over again uncomfortable
cringe worthy bs that encourages people to make fun of these people unstead
accept and get to know them.
asdfasdfasdf  - GET RID OF THE FAG   |4.131.40.xxx |2011-04-01 01:18:21
I say kill all the fags, lesbos, and all the bisexuals - women
included.

They're nasty disease spreading mental retards who've been rejected
one too many times by members of the opposite sex.

Better that we get rid of
them than let them infest our society. Oh wait, it's already infested with this
filth, and all the other filthy bastards who support it.
yung cizz  - to each his own   |74.82.68.xxx |2011-04-01 07:56:48
It shouldn't matter what his sexuality is as long as he is a good wrestler I
will continue to cheer for him.I am a fan of wrestling,a true fan...I pay
attention to what the do in the ring and not what goes on in their personal
life.
