Happy Thanksgiving! By the way, you're fired!

The Washington Capitals had high expectations coming into this season but have the worst record in the league at 6-14-1, so head coach Glen Hanlon is now out of a job. Bruce Boudreau, coach of their AHL affiliate in Hershey, will take over on an interim basis starting with tomorrow's game. The Caps come to Philly for the Flyers' annual day-after-Thanksgiving afternoon game. Oddly enough, Boudreau was going to be in town anyway since Hershey will play the AHL Philadelphia Phantoms tomorrow night.

Even more odd is that Ken Hitchcock made his debut as Columbus Blue Jackets head coach one year Philadelphia on Black Friday. So check the 2008-09 schedule when it's released. If your team is in Philadelphia on the day after Thanksgiving, they'd better be sure to win a lot of games early. -- Joe Guckin
