By a vote of 412-1 the U.S. House of Representatives this week approved a resolution congratulating the New York Giants for their Super Bowl victory over New England.
The single vote against this resolution came from Rep. Patrick Murphy (D-PA), whose suburban district also includes a small portion of Philadelphia. Murphy is a veteran of the Iraq War -- and the 700 Level. He worked as a security guard at Veterans Stadium for a few years in the early 1990s prior to joining the Army.
As he told the Philadelphia Daily News: "As a former 700-level security guard and lifelong Eagles fan, I couldn't, in good conscience, vote for our rival Giants...the only thing worse would have been congratulating the Dallas Cowboys."
The more Pat Murphys we elect to Congress, the better off our nation will be. -- Joe Guckin
