kurtangle.jpgTotal Nonstop Action wrestling is making a tour of New York this weekend. It might not seem like a big deal, but it’s of interest to me for a couple reasons, not the least of which is how incredibly gay-friendly TNA and the TNA wrestlers have been in recent years. I did an interview with Kevin Nash a little over a year ago in which he talked really favorably about gay people. On Wednesday, Kurt Angle will appear on Sirius Radio’s Derek & Romaine show for the second time. For those who don’t know, DNR is a pretty racy gay-gay-gay show. A few TNA stars have appeared on the show, including Nash, “Showtime” Eric Young, Traci Brooks, Raven and Samoa Joe. Pretty cool that, in one of the most macho sports in America, embraced by the blue-collar middle class often associated with homophobia, that these guys and this organization would embrace gay people.

For those in New York City, the show at Webster Hall this Thursday is sold out, but shows in Westbury and Elmira on Friday and Saturday still have tickets for sale. If you can’t catch a live show, Angle will appear on Derek & Romaine on Sirius OutQ on Wednesday, Feb. 20, at 8pm ET. -Cyd Zeigler jr.
